Potions, to be specific! So what did you imagine the size of a potion vial to be? I reckoned it was something that would fit into the palm of my hand, easily stored in some sort of belt pouch for quick access; A small bottle. Potions in D&D 5e haven’t been given a weight – well one has, the Potion of Healing. It stands at 1/2 lb! A vial, which is what I imagine we all assume other potions weigh as well. Monsters of the Underworld (2019) is the second book of monsters added to the ‘stable’ of Cawood Publishing ( a Vancouver based third party Dungeons and Dragons publisher ), written by Andrew Cawood and lavishly illustrated by Travis Hanson, with layout and graphic art by Jeff Porter. There are 110 new monsters here for Dungeons & Dragons 5th edition, eminently suitable for when your players venture underground or deeper into the Underdark although I might well have them emerge and cause havoc in Talamh-àrd. Over the course of the years playing 5e D&D there are many things that still slip the mind when playing or DMing and this is a list which is in my Guidelines & Expectations document to remind my players. As a horse rider for 40 years or thereabouts, horses and their mechanics in Dungeons & Dragons, or at least the lack of options, really bother me and, sorry to my wonderful Dungeon Masters, utterly frustrate me – it is an aspect of the game where I really struggle to shut down the meta-gaming and comparing to the real world scenario.
