I am often asked in the fall fishery when fish are entering the estuaries what is the true definition of jigging vs snagging.  Fundamentally it is the term snagging which we are concerned over and this relates to intentionally trying to hook a fish in a non sportsmanlike manner and not hooking in the mouth (which means from the gill plate forward).  No matter what we do this can happen and fish are illegally hooked they must be released immediately.  This short video should give you a little insight to the differences     ..read more
