We are all unique, and this uniqueness should be embraced – celebrated even. There is so much jargon on ‘correctness’ of our postures and alignment in the modern yoga world, where we should place our hands and feet and rotate shoulders and turn pelvis and engage our core to somehow conform to a set of universal rules to make our yoga body Instagram-worthy, or to fulfil some teacher’s perception of what is ‘right’. I’m currently in Melbourne, immersing in the studies of Body Mind Centering. We have been diving deep into the study of fluids of the body: The density of blood. The directionality of lymph. The bounded flow of interstitial fluids between cells The quiet presence of cellular fluid. The elusive innocence of the cerebral spinal fluid. The organic ease of the synovial fluids between joints and surrounding the organs. We speak of how these fluids interplay with weight, time, flow, space, and inform our nervous system – and how all of these express themselves through the tissues in our relational b ..read more
