Mental health platform Headspace has announced it now offers mental health coaching for its direct-to-consumer subscriber base and will bring therapy services to consumers later in 2024. Researchers in the US have developed a new shoe insole technology that helps reduce the risk of diabetic foot ulcers, a dangerous open sore that can lead to hospitalisation and leg, foot or toe amputations. Diabetes affects about 39 million people in the US and can damage the small blood vessels that supply blood to the nerves, leading to poor circulation and foot sores, also called ulcers. Bioengineers at Rice University have been awarded $1.4 million as part of a multi-centre consortium funded by the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H) to develop strategies for reversing the effects of osteoarthritis.
