Special Deal for US Customers: The Best Deal For Crime of the Century
The Diversity of Classic Rock

My parents are coming to visit me in a couple of weeks and I have good news for anyone who’s been wanting to get their hands on a signed copy of Crime of the Century, but found the shipping costs too high. This is the best deal American customers going to get for a signed copy of my book since you’ll be paying what UK customers pay (£17.49 or just a bit under $22 US) since the shipping cost for Media Mail is the same as domestic shipping in the UK. This is the best deal you’re gonna get. That is a full $15 savings and it’s cheaper than what you’d pay for it on Amazon (those copies aren’t autog ..read more

Book Review: Prince and Purple Rain: 40 Years by Andrea Swensson

Disclosure: I got a review copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion When I was first getting into classic rock as a teenager, I had a really close friend who also loved classic rock. One day, she came over to my house and she brought a VHS tape of Purple Rain. She was a big fan of Prince and said I got to watch this movie. We watched it and I loved it, that was my intro to Prince’s music. My dad would frequently play “Let’s Go Crazy” in the car too and my brother would always imitate Prince’s “woo!” at the beginning of the song. Prince passed away in 2016 and I remember exactly wher ..read more

4/20 Special: Stop the Respectability Politics
The Diversity of Classic Rock

How many 4/20 specials are you gonna do this year, Angie? Well, I’ve been writing like a madman and have a lot of pent up energy and thoughts and I might as well do something constructive and write. This idea started with a newspaper article that has been going viral in the UK cannabis scene. This article features a family whose child has severe epilepsy and has found that cannabis has vastly improved their condition, but it’s extremely expensive because the NHS won’t subsidise the costs so they have no choice but to get a private prescription. Many people complained about the framing of the a ..read more

4/20 Special: 60s and 70s Music for Sleep
The Diversity of Classic Rock

Last year’s 4/20 special was a political one, but this year I want to change it up and make it more light-hearted and positive, and maybe something useful for those of us who have trouble sleeping. If you liked my previous post on classic rock songs about weed then you’ll love this one! This year’s Met Gala theme is Sleeping Beauties, so it’s only fitting that I make this year’s 4/20 special about sleep. What did I get for Christmas last year? A medical cannabis prescription. No really! My first prescription arrived right before Christmas and I was over the moon. Finally having access to a reg ..read more

Record Store Hot Take: Comparison shopping on your phone is okay, actually
The Diversity of Classic Rock

Why am I ranting? Happy Record Store Day to all those who celebrate. May the odds be ever in your favour. I have big travel plans this year and I can’t derail those by spending my money on records here, when I could be saving that money to go record shopping abroad. Fingers crossed I find what I’m looking for on another continent. Anyway here’s a blog post where I share a hot take that will probably get me crucified, but I don’t care because this is my blog where I share what’s on my mind. I don’t kiss ass on this blog. If something’s good, I’ll praise it. If something’s bad, I’ll call it out ..read more

Crime of the Century: Classic Rock & True Crime in Pictures – Chapter Reveals
The Diversity of Classic Rock

I’m not an artist, but I try my best to make aesthetically pleasing graphic designs for the blog and I decided to have a bit of fun making graphics to promote my book. All my style, the way I like it. Like I do with my blog, I decided to take into account the eras of the stories and each band’s aesthetic when designing these graphics. I made graphics for all the chapters of the first section and one graphic for the second section. Not all musicians mentioned in the book will be in these graphics, but it’s still a good idea of what stories you can expect to find in the book. In most of these gr ..read more

Welcome to the Machine? Pink Floyd chooses AI animation as winner of a video contest
The Diversity of Classic Rock

If you don’t know what AI (artificial intelligence) is and you haven’t heard any discussion of it, then you’ve been living under a rock and I’m jealous of you. AI is everywhere and it’s disrupting all sorts of things from companies bragging about their technology being powered by AI to it now being used in art and this is one of the most controversial ones. Can robots make art? How artistic is AI? Is it ethical? Was this contest winner cheating? Is it okay if big companies and A-list rock bands use AI-created art? Well, we just opened a Pandora’s box. I guess it’s time to examine this topic. P ..read more

Instead of clogging up your feeds with every collab or reference of my book elsewhere on the web, I thought I’d do a little roundup/summary post of them, in case you missed it, and to return the favour to friends of the blog who’ve promoted my work. Now it’s my turn to give you a shoutout! Without further ado, let’s get started! A big thank you to Mary Devlin, Mike Ladano, and David Oman for shouting out my book on their platforms. Collab with my friend Mary I’ve featured my friend Mary Devlin on the blog before: I interviewed her and featured her song “Lover’s Hands” on the blog. She’s a grea ..read more

Today’s the day! I thought it would never come and it was eons away, but it’s here! Countless hours of work later and it’s official, I can call myself Angie Moon: Published Author. Crime of the Century has been all I’ve been talking about lately on social media and that’s because it’s always been on my mind for the last two years. I never want to offer my readers anything less than the best so I made sure to put all my energy into this book from the content inside it to the artistic approach I took coming up with the book cover. Writing the book was a journey and the content is a storytelling ..read more
