An insurance executive in Cherry Hills Village who had been accused of child sex assault pleaded guilty Wednesday to a much lesser charge that allows him to avoid prison.
Charles “Chuck” McDaniel, 62, pleaded guilty in a Centennial courtroom to misdemeanor harassment as part of a plea agreement with prosecutors that afternoon.

Distressed office space has bled into RiNo — and newer product.
The owner of Industry Denver at 3001 Brighton Blvd. defaulted on the office building’s loans last month when it failed to pay them off upon maturity.
That’s according to a lawsuit filed Tuesday by the building’s lenders, two affiliates of New York-based American International Group, or AIG.

Idaho Springs-based Westbound & Down acquired Aspen Brewing and Capitol Creek Brewing over the weekend, and a capital raise from the summer hints at the purchase price.
Jake Gardner, director of brewing at Westbound & Down, said the brewery started raising cash back in June, when the deal was barely fermenting.

One Denver City Councilwoman said Tuesday she plans to vote against the city’s proposed purchase of the former Denver Post building, while other council members pushed to see the appraisal justifying the $88.5 million price tag.

A former Highlands bakery space is getting a little more specialized.
Odell’s Bagel is slated to open in 4,800 square feet at 3200 Irving St., formerly home to the Denver Bread Co., which closed over the summer.
Owner Miles Odell, 32, said he’s targeting a May opening. The plan is to serve bagels by day and to run a 12-seat chef’s table by night.
“I’ve always loved bagels … I grew up in New Jersey,” Odell said. “I’ve been perfecting my bagel recipe for 10 years.”

Industry giant WeWork, of course, is bankrupt. A coworking firm’s downtown Denver tower is in receivership. And local coworking pioneer Galvanize has exited the coworking industry locally.
