Where I live in the North East of England, there is a yearly half-marathon event called the Great North Run, the most famous run of its kind in the world. This year, 60,000 people of all ages from across England and the world took part. While I am usually to be found on the finish line along with thousands of other spectators, cheering the incredible runners on, yesterday I watched from home as the rain poured outside. Commentators optimistically labelled it 'ideal running conditions' as sixty thousand pairs of feet thundered the 13.1-mile journey to the ..read more

This past weekend, I spent some time listening to some of my favourite women in business, the gals who, no matter how I'm feeling, always give me that 'hell yes' energy; in this weekend's case, it was Brene Brown and Gala Darling.
Note →: Do you have a playlist of your go-to girls? If not, I highly recommend it (along with the CEO Radio playlist, obvs).
Whenever I make time for this listening ritual, which admittedly, isn't as often as I'd like, I always come away with approximately 10,000,000 insights, so bear with me as I choose just one or two to share with you ..read more

Have you ever gotten a brilliant idea or a flash of inspiration that felt so powerful you couldn't keep it to yourself?
How often have you excitedly spilled the details to your nearest and dearest, only to be met with, 'It's great! But don't get your hopes up.'
Your heart drops faster than a tower block broken elevator in a Hollywood movie. Talk about a comedown!
This moment is where a decision is made, and often, it involves us neatly folding our ideas away with a promise that you'll be back later and shelving it never to be seen again, but here's the thing. A decision was ma ..read more

Castelfranco is one of those places you might never stumble upon as a tourist or traveller. Fortunately, I had the luck many years ago, and my visits have been numerous and frequent ever since. While many places feel comfortable, Castelfranco feels like home.
The only reason I made that first foray back in the day was on my first visit to Asolo, the home of my heroine, Freya Stark. Whilst Asolo is beautiful and tucked away in the hills, Castelfranco is spacious and well-connected. It is where Freya used to get driven to catch the train to Venice for her steamer ships and ..read more

Women and men have sat in circles for centuries, sharing knowledge and connecting. These circles fulfil an innate need for human connection, especially for women undergoing significant life changes.
There is a reason why there is a resurgence in women choosing to gather. Not only do they help us to connect with our own cyclical nature but they also encourage creative and powerful expression.
There's no denying that the world we live in can make it difficult to tap into our creativity and spirituality. We're bombarded with messages prioritising productivity and efficienc ..read more

I have been a 'returning pilgrim' to Asolo for almost 20 years. Nestled in the foothills of the Dolomites, the town can be referred to as 'The town with a hundred horizons' and the 'Pearl in the Province of Treviso.' It is undoubtedly worthy of its label of one of 'I Borghi piu belli d'Italia', the most beautiful villages in Italy. For me, it is simply a haven.
Freya Stark, one of the town's more famous 'daughters,' led me here even after her passing at 100 in 1993. A legendary explorer and travel writer, Asolo was her home. Her house, Casa Freia, still has the stone ..read more

Recently, someone told me that I 'told too many stories', and while it was meant as an insult, it made me think about some of the best moments I've had with family and friends. The times when their eyes lit up as they recounted a story from their recent vacation, their smiles at something fun that their pet has done, or anger at a work colleague, I remember every one of them. If they had simply told me where they went on holiday, the name of their pet, or who sent the offending email, these details would easily have been forgotten in the busyness of life, but by putting these ..read more

Are there certain things you're waiting to do in life?
It's not just you. Waiting is a common trap that many women find themselves in. We wait for the perfect moment, the ideal opportunity, the perfect partner (life or business), the stars to align, money in the bank or until we feel confident enough to show up on camera.
Do I need to tell you this is a mistake?
Since our chat last week, I've been thinking a lot about big energy and what that means, and I keep coming back to this: It's time to get off the hamster wheel of 'when' and slide firmly back over into the drivi ..read more

When it came to writing to you today, I wanted to share something that provoked my thoughts last week. I love it when something challenges my thinking, and in this case, it was a post I saw on Social Media that went like this:
Replace alcohol with water
Replace Netflix with podcasts
Replace Influencers with creators
Replace overthinking with action
Replace toxic friends with mentors
Replace complaining with gratitude
Replace spending with investing
Replace sleeping in with early mornings
My initial reaction was something like 'easy for someone else to say,' and, o ..read more
