BOYNEXTDOOR – HOW? (Mini Album Review)
Music Review World
by Alexandra Krinyak

5th generation sextet BOYNEXTDOOR set out to further enchant fans and new listeners alike with their bright and infectiously cheerful blend of hip-hop, pop, R&B, and ballad. BOYNEXTDOOR broke out onto the K-Pop world stage in May 2023 with their upbeat single ‘WHO!’, whose 3 sleek pop songs charmed audiences far and wide with their touching lyrics, dreamy vocals, and above all approachable ‘boy next door’ concept that all 6 members effortlessly settled into upon debut. The playfully sweet conceptualisation of the group was also a welcome shift away from other K-Pop boy bands at the time, m ..read more

In their 12th studio album release, the Ohio duo comprised of Dan Auerbach (Vocals/Guitar) and Patrick Carney (Drums) join forces with various writers and artists for a project that finds them expanding their soundscape with new genres, features, and stylistic choices. With both Dan and Patrick citing in interviews their intention to expand their catalogue of artists they’ve worked with, their newest album is a true testament to that as can be seen in their collaborative efforts in writing, production, and features. Joining forces with writers such as Beck, Dan the Automator, Noel Gallagher, a ..read more

Metro Boomin & Future – WE STILL DON’T TRUST YOU (Album Review)
Music Review World
by Kevin Del Rossi

In their second collaborative project, just three weeks after the release of their first collaboration WE DON’T TRUST YOU, the duo released a project that again finds Metro Boomin lending his production expertise while Future offers a stylistic chance of an R&B/singsongy cadence this time around. Technically a dual disc release, the 25 song (1hr and 28min) album boasts an impressive roster of features including The Weeknd, Brownstone, Ty Dolly $ign, J. Cole, Lil Baby, and A$AP Rocky while the majority of the album is performed exclusively by Future himself. With a mostly cohesive flow in s ..read more

LCD Soundsystem – american dream (Album Review)
Music Review World

In their latest release, the Brooklyn originating band (Headed by frontman James Murphy) offers their typical wonky and post-punk revival/dance-punk style to a myriad of topical thematics relevant to the time of release (2017) from commentary on Trump to remembrance of the late and great David Bowie. In their medley of energetic, upbeat, and dance-centric tracks comes their typical cynicism and satire of various topics, juxtaposing to the often light and carefree feel of the tracks. Nominated for a Grammy for Best Alternative Music Album and nominated/winning for Best Dance Recording for their ..read more

Queen Majeeda – Wedding Invitation (Album Review)

As a poet myself, I can definitely appreciate when someone who is more versed in the literary arts expands upon their expression of art, and gives their already-existing body of an art more life by linking it to other types of art. Merely limiting yourself to one method of art can leave you extremely myopic. I find that even when people dislike or have a bias towards other aspects of one’s art piece, if it contains more than one form of art in it, there is always a way for someone to appreciate it and extract some sort of understanding from it.  Today’s review will center on a passionate ..read more

Lux Prima – Karen O & Danger Mouse (Album Review)
Music Review World
by Kevin Del Rossi

In their first collaborative project together, producer Danger Mouse and front woman from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs Karen O offer a true music experience in an album that seeks to find a place, not a sound, as quoted by Danger Mouse himself. Lux Prima (Meaning “First Light”), is a spacey, dreamy, and ethereal experience that’s primary purpose is to create a soundscape with its aesthetics and vibe, thanks to Danger Mouse. Utilizing an array of orchestral arrangements with infusions of Synth, Americana, Trip Hop, and Pop Punk influences, Danger Mouse offers a medley of genres harking from both his dis ..read more

N8 – The MRC At KonK Studios / The Midnight River Crew (feat Isabella Coulstock) [EP Review]

It certainly is interesting when an act decides to release a more acoustic-dominant version of their usual songs, in a renowned studio. It almost puts me in the mind of the MTV Unplugged series, where artists perform a stripped-down version of their usual tracks. Most electronic and stylistic elements get removed from the song in favour of an ‘organic’ sound, not just in terms of the type of instruments used, but in the acoustics of the room and the mastering of the instruments. It definitely doesn’t need or require the high mastering standards demanded of a recorded song in a studio, but it r ..read more

TETZA Releases Pop Break-Up Anthem “Kick Rocks” Alongside Cheeky Music Video

Following her 2022 debut EP: Summer Reading, Tetza is back with pop banger, “kick rocks”, which can best be described as the perfect response to an unsolicited and undesired ex-partner showing back up in your life. The song is a dreamy but danceable celebration of self-love post-heartbreak. It’s as empowering as it is unserious, with dichotomy being something Tetza does best. Tetza’s self-arranged vocals shimmer through the track with impactful lyrics that inspire strength in independence. It’s a song made for a summer drive to the beach while screaming the hook “eat dirt, kick rocks!” at the ..read more

Coming Up Roses – Coming Up Roses [EP Review]
Music Review World
by Luc Pereira

Coming Up Roses is a band on the verge of a meteoric rise in the UK’s grassroots music scene; their latest EP serves as a vocal testament to this premise. They have been releasing a steady stream of music since 2019, characterised by strong, sonically expansive tunes. This current EP represents their finest collection of work to date.  The tunes on this album notably feature pristine, flare-filled production; they were produced by Joshua Rumble, who has worked with established artists such as Gang Of Four, Paul Tucker, Jack Penãte, Florence Welch, and Bastille. Their coherence as creative ..read more
