Just when you think an Easter Bank Holiday weekend can’t get any better, The Hives decide to play a gig right at the end of it. Playing the Barrowlands on April 1, Easter Monday, the band savoured the holiday energy given by the crowd- and the crowd equally enjoyed the insane Swedish hyperactivity that The Hives are known for.  Image credit: Katie Reid Opening the night were Essex indie-rockers Bad Nerves. High energy and high impact sum up their set; fans were forged and a mood suitable for a The Hives gig was set. The amount of energy used up moshing to Bad Nerves must’ve been high, as ..read more

SINGLE REVIEW | ONE GLASS | MURDO MITCHELL

Glasgow’s most loved indie/folk ‘busker’ and songwriter Murdo Mitchell is back with his latest single ‘One Glass’. This track takes a slightly different direction to music that preceds it. The skillfull use of diminished chords on the guitar and piano with a shuffle on the drums gives this track a bouncy jazz feel. This all mixed with Murdo Mitchell’s raw and heartfelt Scottish accent makes for interesting listening. Mitchell says; “My strengths are, it’s my rhythm guitar, my acoustic playing, like a kind of troubadour just giving a performance” ; If you have followed any of his other re ..read more

The summer anthem we wanted that came in January to beat off those January blues… premature but absolutely a track to prepare us for the festival season this year. Joshua Grant and Katie Nicoll is a collab that maybe we didn’t expect especially for this pop punk track. Their track tidal wave dropped at the end of January and it’s already got a lot of attention and rightfully so, being added to Tidal, Spotify, Apple Music and Deezer rock playlists. Jack Currie – www.jackcurrie.com Joshua Grant on the track; More than a year ago I had this idea for a chorus on the flight home from Vegas. I re ..read more

Del Water Gap has leaped the barricade in SWG3 Warehouse on Sunday night and is making his way to the far edge of the crowd and back before jumping, along with all 500 people of the sold-out crowd, to his song “Perfume.” Whether or not the audience came to the venue that night knowing the words to this song, they were surrounding him and singing along with him, the energy palpable. This is what S. Holden Jaffe – the Connecticut native who created the solo project Del Water Gap at university in New York City does – he walks on stage with charisma and confidence that motivates his audience to ex ..read more
