The International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia was created in 2004 to draw the attention to the violence and discrimination experienced by lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex people and all other people with diverse sexual orientations, gender identities or expressions, and sex characteristics. The date of May 17th was specifically chosen to commemorate the World Health Organization’s decision in 1990 to declassify homosexuality as a mental disorder. “I’d love to skydive it looks amazing” I’d say never thinking I’d actually be signed up to go through with it!  Now here I am with four days to go until I’ll be jumping out of a plane from 15000 feet.  But no matter how many nerves I may feel I know that it’s worth it to raise every penny I can for the Alzheimer’s society.  You see once your life has been affected by dementia things are put into perspective.
