At approximately 10:30 a.m., the Emery County Sheriff’s Department (ECSO) received a call that an attempted kidnapping had taken place at the County Days Track Meet being held at Emery High School. Two sixth graders who were in attendance left the track meet and headed inside to use the restroom. As the girls were finishing using the facilities, the victim walked out to wait for her friend. The victim stated that as she walked out of the restroom she was grabbed around the waist by an unknown male who then used his other hand to cover her mouth. Tuttle Pleads Guilty in Murder of Emery County Man by Soup Can

In July of 2023, Zachary James Tuttle was apprehended in Emery County following the death of a local that was allegedly beaten to death by a can of soup during a drunken argument. An Emery County Sheriff’s Office (ECSO) deputy was dispatched to speak to a 14-year-old child that had called in the incident. This turned out to be the child of Tuttle, who told the deputy that their father had been drinking with another male subject and they began to fight. During the Wellington City Council meeting on Wednesday, May 8, Kelten Larsen, USU Eastern’s recent P.O.S.T. graduate, decided to start his career in law enforcement in Wellington City. Officer Larsen, accompanied by family, was sworn into oath of office as Wellington City’s newest Peace Office. Councilman Larry McKinnon advised that the new kennel licensing ordinance had been updated. The Lady Dinos faced the Union Cougars in a winner goes home matchup on Thursday evening. The teams met once before in the regular season, as Carbon would get the win, 10-4. The game would start with Union scoring first, with a run in the first inning. Carbon would score consistently throughout the game, going up 8-1 through the seventh inning.
