Michael Stanyer Program Lead, Communications. Emotive is an educational campaign that helps drivers learn about electric vehicles in B.C. We visit existing events, or arrange our own “EV Experience” events throughout the province, and bring electric vehicles so that community members can test drive them. That way, people get to try the vehicles even if they aren’t currently shopping for a new car; as EVs become more available at rental agencies and car-share programs, it’s a good idea to get some time behind the wheel. And if drivers are preparing for a new vehicle, we are happy to talk them ..read more

By Plug In BC Staff Michael Stanyer Program Lead, Communications. In August of 2022, I needed a vehicle for a couple of work trips between Courtenay and Victoria. I used an electric Hyundai Kona from the Modo Co-operative. It made for a cost-effective, fun, and hassle-free EV commute. Modo does not have vehicles based in Courtenay, where I live, but fortunately I was able to pick up the vehicle in Victoria while on a trip for other business. There was no problem accessing it using the Modo fob. Modo secures parking spaces with dedicated chargers for their EVs so I was able to start with 80 ..read more

By Plug In BC Staff, Michael Stanyer Program Lead, Communications. In July of 2022, I drove a Turo rental Tesla Model Y Long Range from my home in Courtenay to the Summer Cruise car show in Dawson Creek. Charging stops were short and everything worked. It was one of the best road trips I have taken, electric or otherwise, because the Model Y is such a smooth, powerful, comfortable vehicle to drive. This trip was done in ideal, warm weather conditions. It demonstrated the benefits of electric vehicles with battery pre-conditioning and high-powered fast charging: the Model Y and Tesla Supercha ..read more
