On February 1, 2024, the Huntington Beach Police Department responded to a report of a robbery targeting an ATM maintenance worker. The perpetrators took a large amount of cash from the ATM and fled the area.
Despite the suspects’ escape, HBPD detectives wasted no time launching a thorough investigation.
Their hard work paid off when they identified the two culprits involved in the robbery. One was already behind bars in another state for unrelated charges, while the second suspect was having a great time at a casino in Riverside County.

The Huntington Beach Police Department (HBPD) will hold a DUI Checkpoint on Thursday, April 25, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. at an undisclosed location within the city limits.
Checkpoint locations are chosen based on the history of DUI crashes and arrests. The primary purpose of checkpoints is not to make arrests but to promote public safety by deterring drivers from driving impaired.

On a Tuesday night (4-2-24) at approximately 9:45 pm, patrol officers were alerted to a stolen vehicle in the area of Hamilton Ave. and Brookhurst St. An officer located the vehicle and followed until several additional officers arrived to assist, according to the Huntington Beach Police Department.
Once there were sufficient officers present and the HB-1 police helicopter above for air support, an enforcement stop was initiated.

Yesterday, a police officer responded to an identity theft report, according to the Huntington Beach Police Department.
A victim’s credit card was stolen earlier in the day, leading to fraudulent charges popping up in town. With a quick and thorough follow-up, the officer traced the suspect’s trail to a store where the stolen card was used multiple times.

Thursday, at approximately 8:30 p.m., police officers responded to reports of a shooting in the area of Sabot Lane and Maddox Drive, according to the Huntington Beach Police Department.
An adult male victim was found with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds and transported to a local hospital. In speaking with the victim, he stated the suspect was not known to him.
Detectives from the Major Crimes Unit later positively identified and contacted the suspect, Taylor Cosner, 27, of Huntington Beach, who was arrested and booked at the HBPD jail on one count of attempted murder.

Shortly after midnight, police officers responded to a report of a car stuck in a ditch, according to the Huntington Beach Police Department.
Upon arrival, officers found the vehicle stranded in a grassy lot.
Following a comprehensive field sobriety test, the driver was arrested for DUI.
Thankfully, no one was hurt, but things could’ve been much worse.

Early on Thursday morning, while on patrol, police officers spotted a stolen vehicle, according to the Huntington Beach Police Department.
When they attempted to pull it over, the driver refused to stop, leading to a pursuit. After a short chase, the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. After a brief game of hide-and-seek, the driver was found tucked away under a truck. We guess it was a nice attempt, but not exactly a winning strategy!

Last night, police officers located a stolen vehicle thanks to an innovative tool, a license plate reader camera, which alerted their department of the stolen vehicle in the area, according to the Costa Mesa Police Department.
The Huntington Beach Police helicopter, HB1, was overhead and located the vehicle pulling into a parking lot. Some nearby residents might have heard the helicopter at around 8:30 p.m.
