Dear Spring Family, Although we continue to see the devastating impact of the COVID crisis globally, we are happy to share that in B.C., people who are pregnant have been prioritized for COVID-19 vaccination and can now book a vaccine appointment. Science has shown that pregnant persons have an increased risk of severe complications associated with infection from COVID-19 comparable to that of 55–59-year old persons in the general population. The recommendation to get vaccinated during pregnancy is supported by the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada (SOGC), the National Advi ..read more

Dear Spring Family, For the first time in many months, we now have some positive news around the pandemic, as we anticipate approval of two vaccines for use in the United States and Canada. While this news is reassuring, it has prompted many questions from our patients regarding the efficacy and safety of these vaccinations if they are trying to conceive or are currently pregnant.  In summary, we encourage everyone who has access to get the vaccine if they have a negative pregnancy test. While we believe that the mRNA vaccine is likely safe for pregnant women, we do not currently have dat ..read more

Dear Genesis Fertility Centre friends, family, patients, and supporters, When I took over Genesis in 2013, I did so because I wanted to raise the bar for fertility care in Canada. Through the immense trust that you’ve placed in our clinic, we’ve been able to achieve that goal and advance the field with many firsts and some of the best success rates in the country. At that time, part of my plan also included recruiting two of the smartest physicians and scientists I knew from the Bay Area – one of whom I helped train at University of California at San Francisco, and both of whom have become ver ..read more

Today marks International Women’s Day—a global movement celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women—a day reminding all of us that “an equal world is an enabled world.”  As a Medical Practitioner, it’s empowering to reflect on how times have changed for women when it comes to their fertility options.  Last July marked Louise Brown’s 41st birthday—the first “test tube” baby born through IVF treatment. Now, IVF is considered a mainstream medical treatment for infertility. It’s remarkable to witness how far science has come.  Not only that ..read more

I was diagnosed with a diminished ovarian reserve in 2013 at age 33. We were devastated. We had always dreamed of a family since meeting in 2005 and had been trying since we got married in 2012.   After our 2 failed Clomid attempts at another clinic, they said IUI wasn’t an option but didn’t know why, so IVF was recommended. We didn’t feel very happy with the clinic we were with, so we sorted a second opinion. When we met with Dr. Kashyap, we felt so much better. Although she also recommended IVF, her approach was so different. She allowed us to feel in control and informed, and the ..read more
