Letter: West and Abdullah Entitled to Their Opinions, But Not Their Own Facts
Boulder Jewish News

Dear editor: Cornel West and Melina Abdullah are entitled to their opinions, but they are not entitled to manufacture “facts.” (“Column: No Doubt That Cornel West Denies Israel’s Right to Exist” Boulder Jewish News April 18, 2024.) The truth is that the Arabs of Palestine could have achieved autonomy, without a drop of blood being spilled, in 1947 if Arab states had accepted the UN Partition Plan for Palestine. But the Arabs rejected the offer and went to war trying to stop the establishment of a modern Jewish state in the Jews’ ancestral homeland. Arab-initiated violence saw 400,000 – 700,00 ..read more

Rabbi Korngold’s Thoughts: Pesach and the War
Boulder Jewish News
by Rabbi Jamie Korngold

On Shabbat, I was on a mountain bike ride south of Boulder, when my 14-year-old cousin texted from Jerusalem.   “The bombs are coming here,” he wrote.   I stopped riding and immediately checked the news. Drones and missiles were heading toward Israel. I jumped on my bike to ride home and all the while I stayed on with him. We texted back and forth and eventually, we switched to a phone call and then I could also check in with his parents, Molly and David. I attempted to reassure him, to comfort him with our connection, but truly I mostly tried to distract him. What could I possibly ..read more

Column: No Doubt That Cornel West Denies Israel’s Right to Exist
Boulder Jewish News
by Bruce Ticker

Riddle me this, Cornel West, as they say on Batman. CNN host Abby Phillip asks you: “Do you believe that the state of Israel should exist? As an independent presidential candidate, you respond: “We want a situation in which precious Palestinians and precious Jews can live together under conditions of equality.” What are you telling us? We can interpret this answer in the negative. You oppose the existence of a Jewish state. You have always opposed its existence. Many Israel supporters fervently believe that West joins all of Israel’s critics in opposing the existence of Israel. He wants ..read more
