Use critical thinking with CER to assess student’s understanding of changes in ecosystem food webs due to imbalances caused by invasive species, human activity, increased populations of one species, etc. Students read a short story that ends with a leading question. Using the graphic organizer, they write a claim sentence and then gather three pieces of evidence from the story. They pull it all together with a reasoning paragraph.
