Contractors having been preparing the base for the community picnic table behind the garden building. We hope the table will be in place by the summer. Volunteers have been hard at work; weeding,  laying mulch on the beds and continuing  to harvest veg for the local food hub. Preparations are being made for the new growing season on the vegetable plot:  planting seedlings, moving the A-frame support for runner beans, installing two new hand crafted gates along with a new “toe”  path along the inner edge to ease access to the plot for gardeners. The pond has now filled with ..read more

A very special Thursday Garden party took place on December 14th. From toasting marshmallows around the firepit, to tucking into a Christmas roast (served by Rotisseroll), enjoying a cup of special homemade mulled wine and tasty treats or Emma’s (Beanissimo)steaming hot chocolate, everyone had a treat they could enjoy. The choir of St Mary & St Michael, led by Mandy the vicar, sang carols to put us in the Christmas mood. Why not pop along to their Christmas Tree celebrations this weekend (16-17 December) with free craft events for children. Photographer Gabriella Fuzi (gabriellafuzi.com ..read more

Hi, I am Chillie, I moved to Trumpington about one year ago and pass by the Clay Farm Community Garden quite often when I need to go the Clay Farm center or bus stop.  I see many different kinds of plants and flowers, their colours are so gorgeous, it reminds me of the wonderful creation of nature. In the evening, the scenery of sunset is awesome. I love to take pictures to record the most beautiful memories of the garden. Recently, I started volunteering in the garden,  I believe that by working together, we can build a community friendly garden in Trumpington for ..read more

On Sunday 4th October 2015 residents new and old from all over Trumpington came together to design, cook, and serve a meal made from local produce and supermarket surplus.  After a parade starting at what was known as the “Public House”, where residents used to meet for a pint of locally brewed beers to discuss ideas for bringing the community together, around 100 men, women and children planted an apple tree and celebrated on the then wasteland that was to become what is now, after much hard work by volunteers, our flourishing Community Garden on Hobson Avenue. Watch and see if you ca ..read more

On Friday 4th August,  we were joined in the community garden by a volunteer group from Charles Rivers. They cleared the swale, where the grass was over half a metre tall, planted 200 lavenders to make a border along the main path, and put other plants, donated by generous local gardeners, in the west garden borders. They had a good day, dodged the showers – retiring to the store to start on the repair and restoration of our picnic table. We thank them all for their time and effort, making a valuable contribution to the look of the Garden. The post Charles Rivers volunteers do a great jo ..read more

On Thursday 6th July we had an evening to remember here in the Community Garden! The community gathered on the East lawn under the gorgeous evening sun ready for a special performance by the local Collaboration Choir…. It was just brilliant, with the audience clapping away and singing along. We had Azahar food truck (organised by Clay Farm Food) serving fresh and tasty Spanish Food which went down a treat…..delicious! And on the west garden, volunteers hosted a nature spotting and pond dip for the families and children….lots of little creatures were found. It was so nice to see all the commu ..read more
