*|MC:SUBJECT|* *|MC_PREVIEW_TEXT|* Hello Lovely Ladies Welcome to our Spring newsletter, and welcome to all our new subscribers who have visited us at our new shop or subscribed online. I aim to write a newsletter at the beginning of each month – this one has been brewing for a couple of weeks now, and in this edition I hope to give you an overview of what’s going on at our place for the rest of this year and heading in to 2024. The past few weeks have been pretty huge for us. Moving shop is like moving house, but we’ve also been running classes an ..read more

*|MC:SUBJECT|* *|MC_PREVIEW_TEXT|* Hello Lovely Ladies I have been holding off sending out the August newsletter until we have confirmation that we at last have a MOVING date! It may make things a little messy for the next couple of weeks as we prepare for the shift, and I will need to re schedule a couple of weekend workshops to free up some time, but we hope there will be minimum disruption to our regular classes. We anticipate our final day of trading at 500A Miller Street will be Saturday 2nd September, and we will reopen at 410 Avenue Rd East ..read more

*|MC:SUBJECT|* *|MC_PREVIEW_TEXT|* Hello Lovely Ladies I hope you are keeping warm out there on this rather bleak winter’s day. I’m sitting in my office very close to the heater trying to warm up my hands for typing. I would far rather be sewing! You are no doubt wondering what particular office this would be in, given our original plans to move on 1st July. We are currently still at 500A Miller Street. Unfortunately the cold, wet weather hasn’t made painting an easy task. Everything has been delayed by at least 2 weeks while we wait for paint to d ..read more

*|MC:SUBJECT|* *|MC_PREVIEW_TEXT|* Hello Lovely Ladies I’m sending out an early ‘June’ email this week to let you know about some exciting developments at The Eye Of A Needle. For those of you have visited the ‘new’ Hastings shop since we opened in February, and for those who have been attending our Bernina classes, it will be no surprise that we are a little cramped for space around the sewing table and the rooms in our little cottage are a little disjointed.  We have been offered a wonderful opportunity to upgrade our shop premises, and afte ..read more

*|MC:SUBJECT|* *|MC_PREVIEW_TEXT|* Hello Lovely Ladies  Over the past couple of days it has felt more like the summer we haven’t had this year, but I guess psychologically we are conditioned to thinking that winter is on its way, and so we need to prepare for some inside winter projects for when it does get cooler. Do you have yours sorted yet? I always have a few projects on the go at once, but I have promised myself that I won’t start another slow stitching project until my Stonefield quilt is completed. Having said that, as I come to the en ..read more

*|MC:SUBJECT|* *|MC_PREVIEW_TEXT|* Hello Lovely Ladies  I can’t believe we are half way through March already! When we opened the Hastings shop in February I knew it would take a few weeks to gauge what and how we would structure the rest of the year. The cyclone has certainly changed a lot of my original plans, but the path is now getting much clearer as we head towards Easter and Term 2 when I will introduce more classes. In this email I will outline classes going forward for the rest of this year. These are always subject to change, but the ..read more

*|MC:SUBJECT|* *|MC_PREVIEW_TEXT|* Hello Lovely Ladies Warmest greetings to you all from sunny but soggy Hastings today. It has been quite a week for so many of our friends and family, and our heartfelt love goes out to so many of our locals who have lost everything after Cyclone Gabrielle hit our region last week. I almost feel guilty that we have come out relatively unscathed at this point; our home and shop are both high and dry and for this we are so grateful. Going without power for (only) one day was a mixed blessing and I have been able to c ..read more

*|MC:SUBJECT|* *|MC_PREVIEW_TEXT|* Hello Lovely Ladies! Greetings from Hastings and Happy New Year to you all! Well what a month or two it has been! We managed to get a few lovely sunny days between Christmas and New Year and I must say the cooler weather since has been brilliant for unpacking a shop over January. We are so thankful to have had a storage unit right over the back fence, so we’ve been able to slowly move boxes from there to the shop. The storage unit is now empty and the keys have been handed back to a new customer. Last Wednesday 1s ..read more

So its just a short email today with some key dates and information for you:   SEWING MACHINE SERVICING  We take over the new premises in Hastings on Thursday 1st December. *|MC:SUBJECT|* *|MC_PREVIEW_TEXT|* Hello Lovely Ladies I am getting in early this month to tell you about a few changes at the Eye Of A Needle. From time to time it’s important to reassess what is selling well and where we could do better, so this month we are looking at a few items that we need to move on. Life in retail always has its challenges, and with that come some necessary changes to stock supplies that we will carry in the future. I know what sells well in our store, and I also know what doesn’t move so quickly! In light of this, we will ..read more
