Helloooooo lovely hoomans! I know I know, it’s like spotting a unicorn in the wild, this blog popping up in your feed. With it being my final year of university, running two societies and working on my dissertation the year has honestly flown by so quickly. Admittedly, I do miss blogging, but unfortunately with so many balls to juggle over the last year, I had to drop one or two of them, but I thought I would imitate a little Jack in the Box and pop up randomly to say hi, and partially explain what has been keeping me so busy. So of course, university work is the big one with it being my final ..read more

Dealing with (a lack of) motivation
Tall Blonde Tales

Helloooo lovely hoomans! Motivation always seems like some magical buzzword when it comes to study/work productivity, and if the few psychology modules I’ve had to take over my years at uni are anything to go by, motivation can be an extremely powerful tool and psychological element to getting through the ups and downs of the roller coaster that is (academic) life.  But what about when we aren’t feeling so motivated? It’s not like there’s a magical little potion from Alice in Wonderland that we can pop into our tea/coffee every time our enthusiasm or energy for a task dips and we miraculo ..read more

Celebrating my 22nd Birthday

Helloooooo lovely hoomans! So I’m taking a small break from writing about university to do a little appreciation post and reflection about my birthday this year – so heads up for a whole lot of cheesy thank yous! As you might have guessed from my title, I just turned 22. Let me tell you, turning 22 was quite a milestone for me, probably more so than the typical ’21’ because this year I felt like I could truly celebrate, but it also comes at a time where I’m starting to think about what comes next. So yeah, the gravitas of 22 is really pushing the ‘impending adulthood’ button in my brain, and ..read more

Tips for coping with home sickness

The prospect of university brings so much to get excited about, but no matter how enthusiastic you are about becoming an independent adult and heading off to uni, sometimes you can’t help but miss home just a little. Leaving home and moving away for university is a huge transition no matter where you’re coming from, some who might live around the corner and others who are an eleven-hour plane ride from everything they know. The key to remember though is if you’re suffering from homesickness, I can guarantee you’re not the only one.  Even the most independent of us all feel homesick someti ..read more

University Socialising – party animal or bookworm?
Tall Blonde Tales
by blondeyonamission

Helloooooo lovely hoomans!  One of the big questions that come up about university is the type of student you’re going to be. For some, you want to be a party animal and make the most of every social activity and opportunity. After all, these are meant to be the best years of your life, you might as well take full advantage of them right? For others, maybe partying isn’t your thing. You’re focused on doing your degree, getting through to the other side successfully and your idea of socialising is a cosy night in with a cup of hot chocolate and a movie. Maybe a few carefully selected frie ..read more

Freshers Week Guide and tips for how to survive!

Hellooooo lovely hoomans!  The fateful week has finally arrived … Freshers week! Well, it hasn’t technically arrived. It starts on Monday but I’m getting in ahead of it as I figure a lot of students will either be moving in this weekend, or gearing up to start uni soon so I figure it would be a good idea to start off my uni advice posts with literally, the first thing you normally experience at uni as a uni student. No matter where you’re off to, the first week of tertiary education life has a lot of similarities, and normally includes moving into your accommodation, signing up for loads ..read more

A Summer Summary

Helloooo all you wonderful hoomans!  I seem to be doing a bit of a meerkat thing with the blog at the moment, popping my head up every now and again, almost looking like I’m going to pop out of hiding but then I disappear again for an indeterminable amount of time.  I want to thank everyone who, even after this habit, have still taken the time out of their day to read my blog. I’m not going to make any grand proclamations like I’m going to be blogging x amount a week, or any of that, but I am just hoping to blog more. As I’ve already mentioned, my plan for the blog is to make a more ..read more

Should I keep blogging?

Hellooooo lovely hoomans! So once again, I just wanted to say I know I’ve been a bit sketchy with my blog posting. I am very much alive and well, things have just been really busy lately. I also haven’t felt very inspired to blog for a while – I’m not sure if maybe it’s because in my mind I don’t have anything to say, or no topics are inspiring me, but the creative juices for Tall Blonde Tales just haven’t been flowing which has stopped me from posting. Afterall, I really want to stick with my little unwritten rule that I’m not going to blog just for the sake of blogging – if it feels this fo ..read more

Helloooo lovely hoomans! SO some of you might be wondering where I’ve been over the past while, especially as I made one of my grand declarations saying that now that exams are over, I should have time to blog and do all those lovely hobby-esque things. Welllll long story short is I have basically spent most of my time since finishing all of my academic work planning and arranging for The Stardust Charity Ball!! This was a big charity event we hosted as a collaboration between two of the societies I’m part of at uni (the Disney Soc and the Creative Writing Soc), and the Star Wars Soc and the b ..read more

13 Things to Do When You Don’t Want to Do Anything At All
Tall Blonde Tales

Hellooooo lovely hoomans! Now that the academic part of the year is finished, all those sleepless nights and days spent working all the time and never leaving my desk is catching up, which means there is a whole lot of chilling and easing away stress that needs to occur. But what if you don’t know what you want to do? You want to do something, sure, but no matter what you think of, you come up with a reason why you don’t want to do it. It’s an awful cycle filled with zero motivation – I like to call it sloth mode.  I’ve been feeling slothy this week, probably because I was more productive ..read more
