Cuba ransomware group hitting US organizations

Cuba ransomware actors are still successfully targeting U.S. organizations in five critical infrastructure sectors. The FBI and Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency said Thursday in a joint advisory. The ransomware group and its affiliates more than doubled the number of organizations it hit between November 2021 and August 2022. St. Vincent and the Grenadines joins other Caribbean countries in embracing the ‘Citizen Security Data’ approach to crime prevention called CariSECURE. The initiative allows for data to be collected and logged digitally through a web-based application called the Police Record Information Management System (PRIMS) All police stations are in a state of readiness with trained police officers to implement and utilize the software. The Ministry of Agriculture launched its Data Share Platform, which allows for the centralization of the Ministry’s data based on access control lists so that requests for data do not have to be made or delivered by email but can be made available in real-time, on May 24, 2022. The platform was developed by Yi-Hsiu (Jenny) Chen, an IT Specialist attached to the Taiwan ICDF Overseas Volunteer Program, with funding from the Taiwanese Government. Massy Distribution Jamaica, one of the country’s largest suppliers of consumer and pharmaceutical goods, says it was the victim of a recent cyberattack. The company is mum on whether customers’ data was impacted. Massy’s Marketing and Corporate Communications Manager Patria-Kaye Charles said the incident was discovered about two weeks ago and “has been resolved” An attack forced the company to close Massy Stores in Trinidad and Tobago on April 28.
