New record for highest price ever paid in Italy for a bottle of wine. A bottle of wine sold at auction for €100,000 has set a new record as the highest price ever paid in Italy, reports Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera. The bottle in question is a jeroboam, a double magnum, in other words 3 litres (four times the volume of a standard bottle), from the "particularly precious" 1990 vintage.
