2024 is going to be a very important year for Notre Dame football and Marcus Freeman. Most reasonable Irish observers had a fair amount of patience through his first two seasons with an understanding that he was learning on the job and that there was much retooling within the program that had to be done to set Notre Dame up for modern success. That patience is starting to understandably wane and the fan base is now focused on results. Speaking of results, what will Notre Dame fans consider a successful year? Making the expanded 12 team College Football Playoff field for starters. To get even ..read more

One of the biggest off the field stories this college football off-season has been the return of the EA Sports’ NCAA Football video game. The game is set to return for the first time in a decade with a launch date of July 19.  On Friday, EA Sports released the official trailer for the game and a very short moment in it has Notre Dame fans buzzing. Sure, the graphics are beyond ridiculous and their attention to detail appears to be nothing short of insane.  However, it’s a small tweak to Notre Dame’s home uniform that fans noticed and gained much attention. Based on the EA Sports Col ..read more

There never was any serious doubt that ACC Rookie of the Year and Notre Dame guard Markus Burton would return to school. When he announced that he was declaring for the NBA draft, he made it clear that it was little more than figuring out where he stood among the players about to turn pro. Not receiving an invite to the draft combine answered that question. Accordingly, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports is reporting that Burton personally told him that he’s heading back to the Irish: Notre Dame's Markus Burton tells me that he will withdraw from the 2024 NBA Draft and return to school next season ..read more

The anticipation is growing for the return of EA Sports College Football and on Friday morning a gameplay trailer dropped featuring some clips of Notre Dame football inside Notre Dame Stadium. It’s all about the details with the venues, so it was hard to see exactly what it will look like, but we got a good look at the “Play Like a Champion Today” sign early in the video and then later around the :50 mark, you see Irish players roaming across the field. The game released its game tier purchase options earlier this week, along with its cover athletes, Colorado’s Shadur Sanders, Texas’ Quinn Ewe ..read more

Former Notre Dame pitcher Brandon Bielak is saying goodbye to the only MLB organization he has ever known. Five days after the Houston Astros designed the right-hander for assignment, he has been traded to the Oakland Athletics for cash considerations. Ironically, the A’s and Astros are in the middle of a series with each other, so Bielak will be going to the other clubhouse when he next arrives at Minute Maid Park. That’s always a fun quirk whenever it happens in baseball. Bielak was an 11th-round selection by the Astros out of Notre Dame in 2017. He made his big-league debut early in the COV ..read more

In a move that seemed odd at the time, Notre Dame’s most recent punter Bryce McFerson entered the transfer portal with three years of eligibility left this Spring. He ultimately ended up landing at Maryland and will continue his career there. This left Notre Dame football with a very important role to fill for multiple upcoming years. Special teamers are a unique collection of personalities. It’s a close knit unit that stays in touch over time. Thorough the Irish punting network, Notre Dame found and secure the commitment of Australian kicker James “Thor” Rendell who stands at 6’4 225 lbs and ..read more

A little over a decade-and-a-half ago Michael Floyd was a five-star, can’t miss wide receiver from the state of Minnesota. Charlie Weis and Notre Dame were fortunate enough to land Floyd’s commitment and the lengthy wideout more than lived up to sky-high expectations in South Bend. After setting receiving records at Notre Dame, Floyd became a first round 2012 NFL draft pick of the Arizona Cardinals. By 2015 he had surpassed 1,000 receiving yards in a single season and was on his way to becoming one of the leagues better receivers. In December of 2016 however, Floyd was arrested for a DUI and ..read more

We’re still a way away from the college football season getting underway but headlines are being made just about every day for some reason or another.
