If you've been evaluated before at SPH, you know that we're pretty thorough. We like to screen movement and look at the way the spine, hips, shoulders and feet move. We often assess breathing, evaluate the ribcage and abdomen, look at how the body transmits force through it, assess the soft tissues and muscles around the pelvis, and frequently, we recommend a specific examination of the pelvic floor muscles. Sleep is critically important to many bodily functions. 7-9 hours of sleep each night is recommended for adults to optimize their overall health and well-being. Did you know that drinking water can be incredibly powerful? When it comes to pelvic health problems and optimizing pelvic health, drinking adequate fluid can be a key component.   Why does water matter that much? Adequate hydration is incredibly important for our bodies. Happy New  Year!!!  I love the New Year. I know not everyone is a fan of resolutions, but for me, the New Year allows a time to pause, reflect, and refocus. This past weekend, Andrew and I raced the Kiawah Island Half Marathon. This race meant a lot to me, as it was the first race I have completed since my daughters were born… and my oldest is 7. The truth is, it’s not the first time I have tried. When Mary was around 18 months old, we signed up for a 5K. We borrowed a friend’s double jogging stroller so we could bring Emma and Mary with us.
