Horsegirl and Lifeguard performed at House of Independents in Asbury Park, NJ on Saturday, July 22nd. Emerging from Chicago’s burgeoning scene of young bands, both acts are signed to stalwart indie label Matador Records. The bands share more than a record label, though – Lifeguard’s Isaac Lowenstein (drums) is siblings with Horsegirl’s Penelope Lowenstein (guitar, vocals). Photos and words by Taylor Shields Making their way across North America on their Indie Rock Road Trip tour (which kicked off at the beginning of June), Weezer made a pit stop at The Mann Center in Philly on Tuesday, June 27th. Opening this leg of the tour were Cali pop-punk rockers Joyce Manor and Baltimore-based synth-pop group Future Islands. The inaugural edition of the 2-day Adjacent Festival in AC happened over the beautiful Memorial Day weekend. With performances spread across 3 stages (each named after a Monopoly piece) along the beach, the lineup had something for everyone.
