The resulting pictures are clear for clients to understand just how important it is to have continuous insulation wrapping their home, and just how much heat can be leaked through poor detailing and thermal bridging. An interesting article on Deep Retrofit in the FT Weekend. Really pleased that the idea of Deep Retrofit and the importance of energy reduction is getting coverage. Whilst renewable energy and heat pumps are certainly part of the solution to reaching net zero, it is the unglamorous and difficult retrofitting of homes that will reduce our energy consumption and bring us nearer to 2050 targets. I am very pleased that my Design and build Passive House has won the Guildford Society Design Awards 2020 in the Individual House category. It is great to have the project recognised by local Architects and the Council and to receive the positive comments from the judges on their visit. “A beautifully crafted timber clad house replacing an original 1950’s bungalow. The house is refreshingly understated and set on the edge of the town over- looking the surrounding countryside. The timber frame house is highly insulated, with low permeability designed to Passive House standards. The interiors ..read more
