Another year down. Another year closer to the grave. However it’s been a tremendous year for underground music. Here is a bunch of stuff that came out in 2022. In no way is this a best of. Just a bunch of good shit.
SCHIZOS -“Banned From Hi-Tone” Okay, okay, I said it wasn’t the best of list. However this is my number one of the year. Now, traditionally, I am not a fan of live recordings. But this one slipped through the cracks. It’s all balls. It’s fucking everything I want. Raw, full of feedback, garage, punk. Schizos sent me in a tailspin with this one. There was nothing else I wanted to h ..read more

So I took some time off from writing on here. I help some friends along the way. It’s been a difficult year. I’ve been trying to discover new bands and buying a ton of records and cassettes. I’ve also been sick more in 2022 than any other year I’ve been alive combined! Fucking insane right?
For all of you that follow me here I thank you and stay tuned for plenty more to come in 2023 ..read more

One of my favorite things about being involved with a very thriving (no matter what people say) underground music scene is the people you meet along the way. Eloy is one of those enjoyable people. He has a label in Austin, Texas called Post Party Depression and has been releasing some of the best garage records and cassettes of the past few years. Recently Eloy made a list of things. Check it out…
Top 3 bands you’re currently obsessing over.
The Bananas from Sacramento. may be my fave band ever. the first 10 years collection is a good place to start. Generacion Suicida, have been hoping they’d ..read more

Review by: Dylan Ammutinato
EXIL – Warning
You can keep your Boston, you can keep your L.A., as for me, I’ll take Umeå.
In case you don’t know, sometime in the early 90’s, while other hardcore scenes slept, turned chug chug thug hardcore, or strangely started to blend the line between punk and MTV pop rock, Umeå started growing one of the most pure and powerful DIY hardcore scenes the world had seen in over a decade.
For the last 30 years, the Umeå scene has churned out band after band of perfect hardcore in every flavor imaginable and at one point was able to boast “more hardcore bands per ..read more

Oi!l Change hail from the gritty streets of Grand Rapids, Michigan. They are full of energy and have quickly become one of my favorite bands in the American Punk Rock underground. It’s only a matter of time before this street punk trio is one of the most sought after bands out there. I sent bassist Sean Cultic some questions and here is what he had to say….
Sean how the hell are ya?
Sean: Doing well man! Staying busy with the band, and I just got married! Never a dull moment!
For people who don’t know, who are Oi!l Change?
Sean: Oi!l Change is a 3 piece Punk Rock act, based out of Grand Ra ..read more

Novel Of Nothing record cover
If you’ve been paying attention at all you probably already know that I have a thing for garage bands from Canada. So when Gemstones came on my radar I started foaming at the mouth.
On April 23, 2021 Gemstones released a 4 song 7″ titled ” Novel Of Nothing”.
So let’s be real for a second. The average listener would probably not be into the quality of these 4 songs. However for a geek like me who loves the warm analog tascam porta2 Type of feel, and I’m assuming you’re here for that exact reason, will automatically fall in love with these songs.
