How this Savannah, GA AirBNB came to be The topic of the importance of having multiple streams of income has become quite popular lately. With real estate being a hot commodity these days, many have turned to short term rentals as a source to generate additional income. While this venture is not one that does not come with a decent amount in start-up fees, the benefits seem to far outweigh the cons when executed correctly. Window shopping for homes is something that we definitely enjoy here at VJC. Whether we’re scoping out offerings here in the ATL or perusing homes abroad, viewing all the p ..read more

Decision Time So you’ve found the perfect home…good bones, the right amount of space, great neighborhood, everything that you were looking for. The kitchen, however, with its old wood cabinets leaves alot to be desired. The time has come to make a decision. Do you walk away from your dreams out of fear of the cost of new cabinetry? Or do you forge ahead with a plan to give those outdated cabinets a whole new look? As a Designer, a part of my job in working with my clients is educating them on the possibilities of their space and the cost associated with bringing these possibilities to life. T ..read more

May 30, 2021 Schools out for the Summer! Whew! I'm happy to share that I have made it through another year of school and a year it has definitely been! For those that don't know, in addition to running my Interior Design business, I'm also a full-time School Counselor. Outside of my first year as a School Counselor, this has by far been the most challenging year of my career. Kudos and cheers goes out to all the students, parents, teachers, and staff that wavered through the many unknowns of virtual learning! Now that I’m out for the summer, I plan on tackling more things for the backyard. Th ..read more

“Travel Therapy Confirms My Direction!” The past few weeks have had me in and out of town for business, inspiration, and fun. I started off the month in High Point, North Carolina to visit the furniture market. Being at the market was a great experience and well worth my time since I got to see lots of designers’ showrooms and trends for the year. Shortly after that I was off to Costa Rica with my cousins for our annual girls’ trip. It was so much fun and is such a beautiful country! I definitely recommend visiting. The flowers and the breeze gave me more inspiration for the vibe I am trying ..read more

May 6th, 2021 One year ago… I attempted the “One Room Challenge”. For those that don't know, the "One Room Challenge" is a six week celebration in which members of the design community from all over come together in the spirit of comradery and fellowship to cheer each other on as we transform a room of our choice. Though I didn’t finish that time around, I wanted to see it through and try again. So, here we are! The room that I'll be completing for this challenge is...(drum roll please) our backyard! What I envision for the end of this challenge is to make this a space: - For entertaining gue ..read more

The pandemic has brought about many life changes for everyone. Family dynamics have been strained; spiritual, physical, emotional, and mental health have declined; and our children have had severe learning setbacks. Whether it was having to social distance, wear masks, and/or work from home, the way we live and work has all seen a shift, one that, society may never revert back to again. As an interior design company, a large part of our business involves working closely with our clients in their homes. Over the past two year we have seen first-hand how the “WFH (work from home) Revolution” ha ..read more

October 20, 2021 Tradition Meets Technology The traditional way that Interior Designers typically service their clients generally starts with in-home consultation. This is followed by sourcing, presenting, and purchasing of furniture and accessories that the client approves. Once all furnishings have arrived, the designer then works his/her magic by pulling the space together to ultimately reveal to the client. For this local client, I did what is known as E-Design. Just like with traditional Full Service Design, our E-Design service starts with an in-home consultation that can be done either ..read more

September 13, 2021 Anyone who has ever had to move knows that while it can be a time of excitement, it can also be a time of exhaustion and overwhelming anxiety, especially when there are little ones involved. This sometimes means that it can take a while - even a few years - to finally settle into your new place. My clients for this particular project are a mother and son duo who knows this experience all too well. The mother purchased their home, which was in pretty good condition, 2 years ago with plans of updating each room a little at a time. While their kitchen and bathroom renovation c ..read more

June 7, 2021 “It’s Crunch Time” With only a few more weeks left in the One Room Challenge and my upcoming girls trip to Costa Rica, I have a few more things I have to get done before I leave. One of the changes I decided to make was to change the color on the stucco walls from green to orange since I think it will be a better backdrop for the accent pieces that I found. I've been trying to think of things that can be done or at least in the works while I'm gone to help keep the momentum going. One such thing is scheduling the gravel company to deliver the boulder that I want for the fire pit ..read more
