Daily writing prompt What is your favorite restaurant? View all responses Well, I must say “JOLLIBEE.”. It is a famous fast-food restaurant in the Philippines. I love it because the foods are so delicious and affordable. Jollibee is the counterpart of McDonald’s; however, most of the foods have a Filipino taste. A lot of foreigners tried it, and most of them loved it (my husband loves Jollibee, too). As per Wikipedia, Jollibee is a Filipino chain of fast food restaurants owned by Jollibee Foods Corporation (JFC). As of September 2023, there were over 1 ..read more

Daily writing prompt How have you adapted to the changes brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic? View all responses Honestly, at first, it was very difficult to adjust to the changes, especially wearing a mask. I am not used to it because every time I wear it, I can’t breathe properly. There were many restrictions during the peak of COVID-19 in the Philippines, including, of course, the lockdown. I think the changes made me realize that we need to take good care of our health and not take it for granted. Simple things like washing hands and covering the mouth when coughing are important. My Contemplation: Overwhelmingly Feeling
From UK to the Philippines with Love

Lately, I cried again. It’s not me. Every month, I always have a day that I cry a lot and I can’t stop. These overwhelming feelings are too much to handle. These feelings are affecting my mental health. Crying is the only way that I can express it, and I think it’s okay. I told my husband that I felt okay, but not okay. Do you get what I mean? I can’t reveal the reason why I feel this way, but I want you to know that there’s a trigger for these emotions. Whenever I cry, it’s difficult for me to stop it. Tears are just flowing and I want to cry aloud but I don’t want to disturb my neighbors. I ..read more

I was looking for a crime drama series on Netflix, and this caught my attention. I am not familiar with the actors and actresses that are in this series. I looked for the synopsis and trailers and I was intrigued with the stories. I was surprised that it had two seasons and all in all 32 episodes. Well, I already started it so I need to finish it.  This is a 2018 crime series (Season 1). Just a brief summary of this series: About a forensic doctor, Baek Beom (Jung Jae-Young), who is skillful at his work but has an eccentric personality and prosecutor, Eun Sol (Jeong Yu Mi), who is a rooki ..read more

Daily writing prompt What tattoo do you want and where would you put it? View all responses I really want to have a tattoo, but imagining those needles on my skin is scary for me. I admire tattoos, especially minimalist designs. I am thinking of having a butterfly and a dog paw print tattoos. A butterfly because, for me, it means being free and beautiful, and a dog paw print because I am a dog lover and it will remind me of my fur babies. For the butterfly tattoo, I want to put it on my nape. I know it is really common, especially for women. The dog’s paw print is probably on my forearm. But ..read more

Point of View: Does Engagement Ring Price Matter?
From UK to the Philippines with Love
by Ayahmdee
3w ago
I’ve seen videos of a guy asking random people questions about this. It started with a post on a Facebook group saying that this woman accidentally knew that her fiancé gave her a cheap engagement ring. So she felt upset because she thinks that the guy should put more effort into finding the right price for the ring. Does it really matter? Well, in my opinion, not really. It doesn’t matter if it is cheap or expensive. We can see people buying very expensive ones, then ending up separating or not accepting the proposal. For me, its the sentiments that count. You can have that expensive and shin ..read more

Point Of View: Religions and Relationship

Does religious belief matter in the relationship? The Philippines is a Catholic country with different religions. For me, I don’t really mind having a relationship with someone who has a different religion. As long as we understand and respect each other. But having a partner who gets me is important, and that includes knowing what I know when it comes to matters of religion. He doesn’t have to agree with what I believe, though. However, I expect the same understanding of my partner’s ideas and perspective on life that I try to show him. I have friends who want to have a partner who has the sa ..read more

Since the weekend was a bit boring,. I searched on the HiTV application for some Korean movies, and I found this. I read the synopsis of this movie, and I was curious about the story since the main character is Jang Hyuk. I had never seen him do an action-packed series or movie. I watched most of his series in romance, comedy, and drama. This movie was released in 2022, and the director is Choi Jae-Hoon. It was a one-hour and thirty-minute movie. I never knew about this movie, and I never searched for it either. I now know that the film was adapted from Bang Jin-ho’s well-known book, The Child ..read more

Daily writing prompt Describe a phase in life that was difficult to say goodbye to. View all responses This is hard for me to answer because, even if it happened for a very long time, I still don’t want to let it go. It was when my aunt died. She was very close to me, and when I was growing up, she was one of the people who helped my mom take care of me. She was a great aunt. She was very blunt and funny as well. She was also strict. I remember when I was still a student, I attended a festival, and I was late going home. When I was with my classmates and friends, she was calling and sending ..read more

Movie Review: The Scoop
From UK to the Philippines with Love
by Ayahmdee

I posted this review because I was interested in the series and the issues surrounding Prince Andrew. I am not really familiar with it; however, my husband told me about it before. I haven’t watched the real interview with him on the BBC, so I will just focus more on this film. This film is about the prince’s controversial interview on BBC Newsnight. I can understand why Sam McAlister (Billie Piper) looked into this: the friendship between Jeffrey Epstein and Prince Andrew (Rufus Sewell) sparked their interest. During the interview, the questions asked by Emily Maitlis (Gillian Anderson) focus ..read more
