Point of View: Does Engagement Ring Price Matter?
From UK to the Philippines with Love

I’ve seen videos of a guy asking random people questions about this. It started with a post on a Facebook group saying that this woman accidentally knew that her fiancé gave her a cheap engagement ring. So she felt upset because she thinks that the guy should put more effort into finding the right price for the ring. Does it really matter? Well, in my opinion, not really. It doesn’t matter if it is cheap or expensive. We can see people buying very expensive ones, then ending up separating or not accepting the proposal. For me, its the sentiments that count. You can have that expensive and shin ..read more

Point Of View: Religions and Relationship

Does religious belief matter in the relationship? The Philippines is a Catholic country with different religions. For me, I don’t really mind having a relationship with someone who has a different religion. As long as we understand and respect each other. But having a partner who gets me is important, and that includes knowing what I know when it comes to matters of religion. He doesn’t have to agree with what I believe, though. However, I expect the same understanding of my partner’s ideas and perspective on life that I try to show him. I have friends who want to have a partner who has the sa ..read more

Movie Review (Korean): The Killer: A Girl Who Deserves to Die

Since the weekend was a bit boring,. I searched on the HiTV application for some Korean movies, and I found this. I read the synopsis of this movie, and I was curious about the story since the main character is Jang Hyuk. I had never seen him do an action-packed series or movie. I watched most of his series in romance, comedy, and drama. This movie was released in 2022, and the director is Choi Jae-Hoon. It was a one-hour and thirty-minute movie. I never knew about this movie, and I never searched for it either. I now know that the film was adapted from Bang Jin-ho’s well-known book, The Child ..read more

Daily writing prompt Describe a phase in life that was difficult to say goodbye to. View all responses This is hard for me to answer because, even if it happened for a very long time, I still don’t want to let it go. It was when my aunt died. She was very close to me, and when I was growing up, she was one of the people who helped my mom take care of me. She was a great aunt. She was very blunt and funny as well. She was also strict. I remember when I was still a student, I attended a festival, and I was late going home. When I was with my classmates and friends, she was calling and sending ..read more

Movie Review: The Scoop

I posted this review because I was interested in the series and the issues surrounding Prince Andrew. I am not really familiar with it; however, my husband told me about it before. I haven’t watched the real interview with him on the BBC, so I will just focus more on this film. This film is about the prince’s controversial interview on BBC Newsnight. I can understand why Sam McAlister (Billie Piper) looked into this: the friendship between Jeffrey Epstein and Prince Andrew (Rufus Sewell) sparked their interest. During the interview, the questions asked by Emily Maitlis (Gillian Anderson) focus ..read more

Point Of View: Toxic Positivity

Toxic positivity is believed to be an excessive emotion of being optimistic in a difficult situation. No matter how burdensome or exhausting what we are going through is, we should have a positive mental state. I agree with this; however, is this really the right mindset that we need to have? Being optimistic is a great way to deal with our problems and negativity. Problems are always negative, and when we feel angry or bad, it’s too difficult to have positivism. There will be times when, if you can’t let it out of your chest, it is too stuffy to let it stay there. Honestly, I am doing the sam ..read more

Love and Relationship: We Close The Distance (Story time during my journey to the UK)

It’s been a long time that I haven’t updated about us. And yes, we closed the distance. I arrived in the UK in October 2023. This was our decision in 2019; however, because of the pandemic, we need to cancel everything. So, when my husband visited me in 2022, we decided to fix and update our documents for the visa. It wasn’t easy, but we asked for help through an agency. It was stressful because we are far from each other and because of the time differences. I also took an EILTS test because it was one of the requirements of the visa. I had some mock tests before I took the real test. The visa ..read more

Movie Review: Missing

While watching this movie, I realized that it has the same plot as the movie “Searching (2018).” The difference between the two was that the father was searching for his daughter, while in this movie, the daughter was looking for her mother. Everything happens online (video and phone calls, emails, social media sites, etc.) The main character, June (Storm Reid), is internet savvy, and she can connect and check everything online. Her mom, Grace (Nia Long), went on vacation with her boyfriend, Kevin (Ken Leung), in Colombia. During the time that her mom was away, you could see her partying and d ..read more

Daily writing prompt What is your favorite drink? View all responses When I was in the Philippines, I really loved drinking coffee, especially Frappucino. Whenever we go out with friends, we always chill out at a cafe. I miss visiting cafes and just hanging out and trying new and featured drinks. Now that I am here in the UK, I am trying some different drinks. I went to Costa, but I think their coffee is too strong for me. Recently, I have been obsessed with drinking cranberry juice and Vimto. Cranberry juice has a lot of benefits, and it is healthy. The first time I tried it was wh ..read more

Series Review: Can I Tell You A Secret?

Since I like watching documentary crime series, I ran into this on Netflix. This was on the UK’s top ten list. I was curious: What’s this series all about? While checking the synopsis, I want to know what happened and why this person did it? This is a two-part documentary series, and it lasted for 55 minutes each. Here is the synopsis: Three women’s lives are changed forever when a prolific stalker infiltrates their social media accounts. And they’re only a fraction of his many victims. It started with an interview with three ladies and talking about their lives, families, and lifestyle. It wa ..read more
