Butler/NBAE via Getty Images Jalen Brunson and the Knicks defy the odds and define New York grit The Knicks have justifiably become synonymous with the resilience and indefatigable spirit that defines the heart of New York City. Their Thursday night, three-point win not only clinched a 4-2 series victory over the Philadelphia 76ers; it showed how this gritty team embodies the very essence of New York—never back down, never give up. The Knicks’ roster, helmed by veteran coach Tom Thibodeau, features an unlikely superstar in Jalen Brunson. Often the smallest player on the c ..read more

Photo by Jesse D. Garrabrant/NBAE via Getty Images Day off for the Knicks as they get some rest ahead of the ECSF matchup against the Pacers. The Knicks enjoyed a well-deserved day off on Friday after dealing with Philadelphia and sending the Sixers to Cancun in six games through their first-round series. With New York reaching the Eastern Conference Semifinals for the second time in as many years and the first time since did it in nine straight years covering the whole 90s, it’s now a waiting game until basketball returns to the Garden on Monday for Game 1 of the matchup against the Indiana P ..read more

Photo by Nathaniel S. Butler/NBAE via Getty Images Orange & Blue quotes off a night for the ages in Philly as the Knicks beat the Sixers in Round One! It took the Knicks two more games than anticipated, but New York invaded Philadelphia for one final time on Thursday on their way to beating the 76ers and punching their tickets for a second-round meeting with the Indiana Pacers starting Monday. The men in Orange & Blue looked good, then horrible, and ultimately extraordinarily impeccable as they stopped Philly on their tracks and silenced their three fans trying to root for the semi-hom ..read more

Photo by Nathaniel S. Butler/NBAE via Getty Images New York conquers Philly, makes the Eastern Semis, and will now fight Indy. What a time to be alive! How do you even start to define what happened in downtown Philadelphia on Thursday, May 2? Perhaps the easiest way is by tackling it in reverse: the New York Knicks are a second-round team following their Game 6 win over the 76ers, 118-115. Felt good to type that, felt better to experience it, even though the game tipped off at 9pm ET for most of yall and 3am EU for me. Well worth staying up. Semifinals up next - Let's get it pic.twitter.com ..read more

In Game Six, Round One of the 2024 NBA Eastern Conference Playoffs, the New York Knicks traveled back to the Wells Fargo Center for another attempt at closing out the Philadelphia 76ers. The Knicks sat on a lead late in Game Five, but mistakes, miscommunications, and Maxey resulted in an overtime loss. With Joel Embiid and Philly fighting for their postseason lives, the Knicks would have to dig deep to rise above tonight. And so t ..read more

Photo by Elsa/Getty Images Refs altering game outcomes in favor of Philadelphia? Color me shocked! The NBA has officially admitted an officiating error regarding Tyrese Maxey’s four-point play in the last 25 seconds of the 76ers Game 5 win over the Knicks, confirming New York was blatantly robbed on Tuesday. Game 5 NBA Last 2 Minute Report finds 4 bad calls, 3 favoring the Sixers––including that Tyrese Maxey traveled on his 4-point play "Maxey gathers the ball on his left foot, takes two legal steps, and then moves his right foot again just before he is fouled on his shot." pic.twitter.com/s ..read more

Photo by Elsa/Getty Images Is there a worse time for a miscommunication? Barely one basketball possession worth of time separated the Knicks from clinching their presence in the second round of the playoffs on Tuesday, wasting our time and making us wait until Thursday. Alas. The Sixers miraculously escaped MSG alive and will live to host one more postseason game before the calendar flips to 2025. Philadelphia will enter Game 5 down 3-2 and facing elimination for the second time in three days in what could be another home-on-the-road contest for New York if all goes like it did the last time t ..read more

What went wrong in the Knicks’ Game Five loss?

Considering what went wrong in the loss the Philly. It was over. Just like it was over in 1995 when Game 1 was supposed to be over. Last night’s game was the most fun that I had watching a Knicks game since the ’90s, and the energy in the building felt like it did in 1995. The Knicks had it! They were just 25 seconds away from moving on to the second round to face, of all teams, Indiana. Then they got Reggie’d. The Knicks didn’t just get Reggie’d, Tyrese Maxey gave the Knicks a full cast of legends during the final 25 seconds of play. First, the Knicks got dealt a dose of their historic mirac ..read more

Knicks wanted to foul Maxey but “miscommunicated” plan

Photo by Tim Nwachukwu/Getty Images Tom Thibodeau demanded his players to commit an intentional foul but it never arrived. If you’re like me, you hated it. The Knicks lost Game 5 on Tuesday in soul-breaking fashion to the Sixers after giving up a whole bunch of points in the final 27 seconds of play and, most damagingly, allowing point guard Tyrese Maxey to hoist a game-tying shot that should have never left his paws. Philly inbounded the rock with barely 15 seconds on the clock still down three points, score 97-94 New York. Maxey crossed halfcourt with around 11 seconds left in regulation and ..read more

Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports Ah, to be a Knicks fan... According to ESPN’s win probability calculator, with 28.2 seconds left in the game, there was a 95.4% chance that I wouldn’t have to delete the article that I had prepared to publish. To be honest, I was looking forward to the 95.4% range of outcomes in which I posted a piece about Jalen Brunson’s excellent closeout performance. Statistically speaking, there was about a 1 in 20 chance that this wouldn’t be about the Knicks taking care of business in a Game 5 at MSG. But here we are. Sometimes you play the odds. Sometimes the odds play you ..read more
