Following January's optimistic upturn in the Austin-Round Rock housing market, housing opportunities soared in February with the addition of more than 3,900 new listings to the market, according to the latest report from the Austin Board of Realtors (ABoR) and Unlock MLS.
The influx of new listings created a near 45 percent jump in inventory year-over-year from February 2023, creating greater possibilities for first-time homebuyers in the Austin area. Demand for housing in booming Texas is at an all-time high, and a new Architectural Digest report has revealed a small but mighty trend rising among the state's real estate offerings: luxury tiny homes.
According to AD's report, "Which States Have the Most Luxury Tiny Homes?" published February 20, Texas has the second-highest number of luxury tiny homes on the market, right behind California. For the purpose of the study, a luxury tiny home is defined as a "freestanding home with a for-sale price of $75,000 or more" that was listed on Tiny Home Builders and Tiny House Listings.

Tax season is here, and Texas homeowners are likely reeling at the thought of a multi-thousand dollar property tax bill. However, Texans can find some consolation in the fact that their property taxes are lower than those in six other U.S. states, according to WalletHub's 2024 property tax report.

Move over, Austin: Cedar Park was just named the No. 4 best Texas city to move to in 2024.
The city came out among the top five in a new population analysis by USA Today Homefront, published February 19, that examined 52 Texas cities across 19 key indicators, including school quality, affordability, entertainment, and more.

Dripping Springs, about 40 miles southwest of Austin, is known as the "Wedding Capital of Texas." It is also known for its distilleries and wineries, with gorgeous views of the Texas Hill Country.

Homebuyers and sellers are starting to feel optimistic about the Austin-area housing market, according to a new report by the Austin Board of Realtors.
According to the latest analysis by Unlock MLS, which provides real estate data across the Austin-Round Rock-Georgetown metropolitan statistical area (MSA), both pending and closed sales increased slightly in January compared to the previous year. 1,667 homes were sold last month, up 4.3 percent; There were also 2,480 pending sales, up 3.8 percent.

A new population analysis by real estate marketplace Zillow has pegged the Lone Star State as the No. 1 destination for adults born between 1996 and 2004 – also known as Gen Z.
Using data from the 2022 U.S. Census Bureau, the report identifies the Top 10 states to which Gen Zers are moving, and Texas was the runaway winner – far outranking No. 2 destination, California, with 76,805 Gen Z movers, versus California's 43,913.

City staff are looking for new ways to fund restoration plans for a historic landmark that overlooks the Austin skyline.
The Norwood House sits near I-35 and East Riverside, overlooking Downtown Austin. Wolf Sittler lives nearby and has been working to save the home since 2008.
