If you know me, you know I’m not your average Joe. I am open about how I raise my kids, my faith, my life choices, and I’m not afraid to speak my mind. I do and believe things a lot of people disagree with, but also there are a ton of people who do agree with me and are open about these things themselves, and others that are too afraid to speak out. And I can understand that. So, how do I openly stick to my guns and live my life and raise my children based on God’s Word and my intuition/gut feelings, without worrying about the feelings of others, during “cancel culture”? (That was a mouthfu ..read more

The Freedom’s of Homeschool

I’m just writing this as a reminder to myself how blessed we are, and to keep focus on our blessings, rather then downfalls the world throws at us. It was a Wednesday and Lilly wanted to make breakfast. This isn’t the first time she’s cooked breakfast for herself and her sister but today it just came to mind how amazing it is that we can enjoy every morning together, and how that she has the freedom and ability to make her own breakfast on a Wednesday morning. No rushing to get out the door, no time crunch, no quick cereal breakfast, and no saying “no, we dont have time.” We’re able to go sl ..read more

You are the best father and boyfriend. I love you so much. More then you can possibly fathom. You’re faithful. You’re absolutely amazing to me. You put our lives before your own. You do the things nobody sees. You understand the importance of sacrificing aspects of our lives in order to ensure stability, safety, and happiness for our children now, through adulthood. Right now, we don’t go on fancy vacations, throw crazy birthday parties, get takeout very often, go out to eat often, drive a fancy car, etc. because you’d rather work day and night knowing our children a ..read more

I have been seeing this topic A LOT lately… Mostly titles like “When another SAHM friend tells me that her husband doesn’t help take care of the kids after work”, and things along those lines. Well, I have thoughts… So, if you’re a stay at home mom and your husband works out of the house full time, should he help you in the house and with the kids once he gets home? In my opinion, yes and no. Let me explain… THE NO Being a stay at home mom is your job. That means you should have a schedule like a job, and get those things do ..read more

Our Chicken Keeping Journey, as First Time Chicken Owners Part 1. “The Beginning”
The Modern Hippie Mom Blog

When my little family moved to my fathers 10 acre land, I knew I wanted to do something special with it. Enter, chickens. Here’s our story on how we became first time chicken owners, and learned how to raise and keep chickens with zero experience. LET’S START AT THE BEGINNING… SORTA So, Me, Erik, our two girls, and dog moved from a more city-like area in Bergen County, to basically the country in Sussex County… As you can imagine, we didn’t have any chicken or livestock experience… But, I have always dreamed of a “easier” life, and a more self sufficient life. Fast forward a few years ..read more

Things We’re Doing (and Not Doing) To Simplify Life and Be More Self Sustainable
The Modern Hippie Mom Blog

Living simply and being self sufficient has been a dream of mine before it became a trend. After moving to my fathers 10 acre land, I slowly started to make that dream a reality. Emphasis on slowly! Here are a few things we’re doing and stopped doing to simplify life, be more healthy, and more self-sustainable… WE STOPPED USING SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER (yes, really) This happened because I’m pretty particular when it comes to cosmetic stuff. I wont just buy the Pantene from the drug store, so usually I have to order our shower stuff. Well there was a day when I realized we were out of ..read more

What is homeschool? I’m going to answer the 5 most asked questions and concerns I’ve gotten about homeschooling my 5 year old, and how we do it. Keep reading to hear about our experience and some things we do, and don‘t do. Q1: “WHY DID YOU DECIDED TO HOMESCHOOL?” I’m not going to talk about the whole public school thing and why I don’t agree with it here, just because I really don’t feel like getting into it. But, if you want to hear about that part of it, then feel free to let me know and I’ll do a whole other blog about it. First, as I mentioned, I don’t entirely agree with the school sys ..read more

Is Breastfeeding as Hard as They Say It Is?
The Modern Hippie Mom Blog

How many times have you read and heard “breastfeeding is hard”? First, let me be clear, I’m not denying anyone else’s experiences, or doubt the least bit that it was hard for those people that say that! But I want me give you a bit of hope, relief, and a new perspective… Everything we read about breastfeeding ALWAYS says “it’s hard.” But for me, it was never hard at all. It came very easily and naturally to me and my babies, and I never felt that it put a strain on me, or my life. In fact, it made life EASIER for me and my babies, and even helped me when it came to bedtim ..read more
