Eat dessert first. That way, when they offer you dessert after the meal, you’ll get seconds! “A”  97 years old   Caring for my aging clients is one of the highest honors in life.  I suppose that suggests my “Love Language” is acts of service.  It’s a two-way street, however.  Giving my clients my time and energy fills my cup, but their presence, wisdom, and stories replenish my mental, emotional, and physical energy. Allow me to introduce you to my client, “A”.  A turns 97 years old this month.  She always has a sparkle in her eyes and a cat-that-a ..read more

Genson Geriatrics Management provides oversight and management of older adults.  We are a non-medical practice – meaning we don’t diagnose, prescribe, or treat.  However, it’s important that, as clinicians, we know what conditions to look for in the population we serve. Health disparities can exist among different racial and ethnic groups, and these disparities are influenced by various factors such as genetics, socio-economic status, access to healthcare, and environmental factors. While it's important to note that individual health can vary widely, some age-related illnesses may d ..read more

https://youtu.be/efCPe-W5N2o Aging adults, have you ever thought, “This moment is so amazing! I’ll never forget it!”? Sadly, I’m here to tell you that you will forget it. Maybe not all of it, but certainly parts. That’s why photography is so powerful. It documents that moment in time for you to have a lasting memory. All too often families are reluctant to take pictures of family members as they decline. We tell ourselves we want to savor the “good times.” Wheelchairs, hospital beds, grey hairs, and wrinkles, however, don’t always mask the person behind them. A professional photographer shared ..read more

I’ve incorporated a gratitude list into my daily morning routine for the past 18 months. I started the practice at a time in my life when it would have been all too easy to stress over all the negatives. I made a conscious decision to flip my thinking and take note of the blessings in my life.     My daily gratitude list is not a magic wand. Problems still exist. I’m still plagued by life’s stressors. But studies show that expressing daily gratitude is an incredible way to be happier every single day. Turning my attention toward the good things in life actually helps me create ..read more

I opened my private geriatric care management practice in July 2013. I had just completed a business course and drafted my business plan. I believed in my vision and my business model. In many ways, my inexperience in business served me well. I’m certain if I knew the challenges that awaited me as a solopreneur, I never would have found the confidence to take that first step. I woul ..read more
