“Leaf Peeping” is an annual activity in Colorado. Going out to see the aspen trees change from bright green to yellow and orange is something I plan trips for months ahead of time. I hope this guide helps you find your own incredible fall foliage spots across The Rocky Mountain State. To find the most up-to-date conditions, I recommend checking Instagram locations, Snapchat Maps, and joining Facebook Groups for Fall foliage viewing or hiking (like The Women Who Hike Group!) This is how I find the best new places to peep leaves! Kebler Pass, October 2nd, 2021. Places ..read more

Radium Hot Spring on the side of the Colorado River. One of my absolute favorite things about Colorado is the mountains. They are what draw most people to the state, but I love them not only for their beauty or fantastic skiing but for their geological make up. I know. Totally nerdy, but what's inside and underneath the mountains amaze me more than anything else I have had the opportunity to explore. The Continental Divide, to me, provides a window into the world below us, and the most relaxing manifestations of that world are hot springs. Recently, John and I discovered that Kuku Campers also has a location here in Denver! We re ..read more

Through the years, John and I’s traveling has transitioned into much more difficult, adventurous, and epic trips. When we look back at our most recent and 12th overall trip to our nation’s national parks, we see how much we have learned and grown in the three years we have been traveling together.  We used to try to hit as many viewpoints as we could in as many parks as we could reach. Check out our very first road trip post here to see what I mean. These days, we have started staying in one place and really trying to go deeper into the protected landscapes. We just spent five day ..read more

Planning and Prepping for a Backpacking Trip

Backpacking is incredibly rewarding, but it requires more planning, research, and preparation than day hiking or camping in developed areas. The additional requirements may seem burdensome, but the payoff of waking up miles away from anything but wilderness is well worth the extra time, money, and effort. Before our 2019 Fourth of July trip, Taylor and I ended up planning three different trips. We originally thought we could complete segments 24-27 of the Colorado Trail, but recent avalanche damage made some segments impassable. Next, we planned to circle The Cirque of The Towers in the Shos ..read more
