What’s better than two? Three, according to the Colorado football program. Head coach Deion Sanders and the Buffaloes added a third member of the Hood family on Friday, picking up class of 2024 linebacker Trent Hood. He is the cousin of brothers Colton and Brandon Hood, who committed to CU at the end of April. Trent, the same age as Brandon, played his senior season at Central High School in Phenix City, Alabama. At 5-foot-11 and 225 pounds, he was named Alabama’s 2024 7A Defensive Player of the Year. He racked up 75 total tackles, two sacks and an interception in 11 games per his MaxPreps pag ..read more

Where departing Colorado football transfers have landed so far
Colorado Buffaloes Wire
by Jack Carlough

For a variety of different reasons, the Colorado Buffaloes football program has watched over 40 players enter the transfer portal this offseason, including big names such as running back Dylan Edwards, cornerback Cormani McClain and offensive tackle Savion Washington. On paper, at least, head coach Deion Sanders and his staff have improved most position groups via the portal, but some losses have certainly stung. Edwards appeared primed for a big sophomore season, fellow running back Sy’veon Wilkerson was showing promise and others who transferred out also had big upside. Here’s where departi ..read more

In a move reminiscent of the Colorado women’s basketball team adding Maddie Nolan last offseason, the Buffs announced the addition of Washington State Cougars veteran transfer guard Johanna Teder on Thursday. A 5-foot-8 graduate student out of Estonia, Teder spent the 2023-24 season recovering from injuries. Before that lost season, Teder was a mainstay in the Cougars’ rotation for three seasons, playing in and starting 86 games while boasting career averages of 8.4 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. If she can stay healthy, Teder will provide a nice mix of veteran leadership and a ..read more

About one week ago, EA Sports revealed the deluxe edition cover for College Football 25, and Colorado’s own Travis Hunter was featured prominently alongside other notable players. Hyping up a July 19 release date, EA Sports released the standard edition cover on Thursday, and the Buffs’ two-way star was once again included. Hunter is one of three players to grace the standard edition cover, joining Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers and Michigan Wolverines running back Donovan Edwards. Buffaloes fans can see Hunter on the cover of both editions, although I’d personally pick up the deluxe ..read more

Following the 2024 NFL draft, former Colorado football wide receiver Xavier Weaver was a hot commodity on the undrafted free agent market before landing with the Arizona Cardinals. While many fans liked Arizona’s decision to pick up the Buffaloes’ top receiver from 2023, Pro Football Focus contributing writer Thomas Valentine believes Weaver is the Cardinals’ top undrafted free agent to watch this upcoming season. Here’s what Valentine wrote on Weaver: Weaver was one of the top undrafted free agents on the board and is a potential coup for a Cardinals team lacking a certain amount of depth at ..read more

After spending five seasons in Pennsylvania playing for the Villanova Wildcats, offensive tackle Wyatt Hummel decided to transfer to where he always knew he would end up: Colorado. Last season, the Colorado Buffaloes women’s basketball team started two 6-foot-3 post players and brought a third in off the bench. All three have since moved on, but head coach JR Payne has rebounded nicely by adding three impact transfers: Jade Masogayo, JoJo Nworie and Nyamier Diew. On Wednesday, Payne scored a fourth big body from the portal as former Minnesota Golden Gopher Ayianna Johnson gave her commitment to CU. Johnson is coming off a freshman campaign at Minnesota in which she played in 31 games with six starts, averaging 3.4 points and 1.8 rebounds per game. The 6-foot-3 forward wi ..read more

Coach Prime stood at No. 55 in last year’s ranking but following a four-win first season leading the Buffs, he fell six spots to No. 61. Only seven head coaches were ranked below Sanders, including fellow Arizona State’s Kenny Dillingham at No. 64. Georgia’s Kirby Smart topped the list at No. 1 and Utah’s Kyle Whittingham was the highest-ranked Big 12 head coach at No. 6. Here’s what Fornelli wrote on placing Sa ..read more
