Located in a heritage site in the middle of Sydney’s CBD, you likely would have walked past Tetsuya’s inconspicuous location multiple times before. It is sandwiched between a car park and Sanctuary Hotel, but once you step inside the restaurant you are taken to a tranquil Japanese restaurant with the loveliest garden.
After stumbling upon a readily available booking for two at Tetsuyas, we jumped on the opportunity to try the degustation menu at ..read more

As a special treat to mark a life milestone (in age), we went to try the long-anticipated Saint Peter by Josh Niland – a restaurant we had long been curious about since his appearance on Masterchef. Having already tried Fish Butchery (which was pretty good but too expensive to be a regular haunt), we were excited to see first-hand the assortment of fish dishes we would be eating at the upscale Paddington version.

After stopping over in Hobart, we moved onto Launceston where we had to try the renowned Black Cow Bistro. As one of the last meals in Tassie, I made sure not to hold back and definitely walked out of the restaurant ready to explode .

James: 5 out of 5 – An incredible meal start to finish and one of the best steaks I’ve ever had.
With a fairly extensive menu, you’ve got lots of choice at Black Cow Bistro, and ..read more

Senpai Ramen is a ramen/omakase style diner by Chase Kojima (of Sokyo, Gojima), serving up an omakase set menu with ramen as one of the finishing courses. Despite being stylised as a ramen omakase, there is only one ramen dish served at the end. Having seen many posts about Senpai ramen on social media, we decided we had to try this for ourselves.

Over the Christmas shutdown period, we spent a week in Queenstown lapping in the sights, activities and most importantly exploring the huge range of food options available in the cosy alpine town.
From the famous Fergburger to the local KFC branch, we opted for a mix of restaurants and takeaway in Queenstown. Join me for a recap on some of the feeds we had and hopefully it provides some inspiration for your next trip here.
First up was the much-acclaimed Pedro’s House of Lamb. In my excitement I didn’t take a full picture of the lamb shoulder in its glory but instead have the plate we ate the ..read more

Price: NZ$174 for 4 people, ~A$163.10
Website: https://sherwoodqueenstown.nz/restaurant
The Sherwood came up on my google searches as one of the top places to try in Queenstown, so we managed to wrangle a booking one weeknight when we were in town.
For entrees we ordered their radish dish, served with labneh and olive oil. These were fresh from their garden, served raw. Whilst the radish itself was crunchy and fresh, it was still raw radish at the end of the day, and definitely not a dish I would order again. I wish ..read more

With an unassuming shopfront on the side of Pacific Highway, it is easy to overlook Brasserie L’Entrecote. It has a lovely homey French bistro vibe, bustling with waiters and diners. We stopped by for a birthday event with six people and were lucky enough to sample a wide variety of their menu.
Location: 1047 Pacific Highway, Pymble 2073, NSW
Price: $638 for 6 people including wine

First up on their entrée menu we ordered the soufflé gratine, which had notes of blue cheese. This was surprisingly delicious (if you don’t mind blue cheese) as i ..read more

Located upstairs in Burwood Chinatown, Moyashi is an all you can eat sukiyaki or shabu shabu, Japanese hot pot. Reminiscing about our favourite Japanese shabu shabu Nabezo, we thought it only fitting to try and see how things compare.

James: 3.5 out of 5 – Pretty good all you can eat sukiyaki, would be even better with more variety in meat.

The next stop in London was to try a Michelin star rated tapas chain, Barrafina. Having heard very good reviews, we decided to head there when it opened at 5:00pm to avoid a wait given they do not take reservations. Barrafina has a nice bustling atmosphere, with bar seating only and the option to stand and dine (whilst waiting for a table). We were seated at a nice vantage point where we could observe the chefs cooking and the organised chaos of a busy kitchen.

Feeds goes international! After two years of COVID lockdowns preventing travel, we’re happy to bring you some content from recent travels overseas. It felt great to be overseas again, exploring the world and leaving the past two years of restrictions and isolation behind. I definitely had a renewed sense of gratitude for the privilege to be able to travel to so many different places and experience the local cuisines and restaurants they had to offer.
First up, possibly one of the most recommended places to me in London, Dishoom.
