El Matador Beach in Malibu, California is a hot spot for photography, especially engagement sessions! On any given evening there could be upwards of 30 different photography sessions going down. With this, sometimes El Matador can be very stressful, and often leaves me with a ton of photoshop work to remove people from the backgrounds. I was willing to take the risk for Adelle and Kyle because this was the location of one of their very first dates, and I love sentimental things like that.
Though the tide was high, we actually didn’t have any issues with there being too many people. I only pho ..read more

I’m going to start this blog post by saying how thankful I was for the weather. It was absolutely beautiful. I try not to let weather bother me, but mid-October in Mammoth can be crazy. It might snow, it might not. It might be 20 degrees, it might not be. As someone who does a lot of wedding photography in Mammoth Lakes, I like to prepare for the worst and hope for the best. To be honest, I don’t look at the weather beforehand. I don’t want it to change my approach to the day before the day has even started. (Also, I just don’t want to jinx it.)
I want to tell the true story that is unfolding ..read more

I’ve been invited to a wedding after party a couple of times, but after this wedding, I actually went. I had to go. Kelly, Brendan and their families were impossible to say ‘no’ to. From the moment my assistant and I showed up we just really felt connected to them. We all shared jokes and stories throughout the day and I could tell that both Brendan and Kelly trusted us to do what we do. And so of course, when they invited us to hang out afterwards of course we were going to go. Hopefully that won’t be the last time we hang out either!
Kelly and Brendan chose June Lake, CA as their location to ..read more

I had such an amazing time photographing Kristin and Daniel’s wedding at Malibou Lake Lodge. It is such a beautiful old venue, and the team of vendors complimented the day nicely.
Kristin and Daniel were both so much fun to work with and their friends and family were so kind. Except for when the Maid of Honor, Alicia, got her own Starbucks delivery and left the bride without any. Kristin got her back though. She made Alicia get up after the cake cutting and stand in front of everyone while they sang Happy Birthday to her. Revenge is sweet. Jokes aside, It really was her birthday, which is pret ..read more

I met Lori and Charlie about a year ago in a coffee shop in Mammoth to discuss their wedding. I don’t even think they had secured a location yet, just a date. At that time their wedding date felt so far in the future. However, as I write this I am in disbelief at how fast the months of prep and communication leading up to this beautiful Sierra Star wedding came and went.
I arrived at the Westin on Saturday morning to photograph Lori getting ready. She had picked a room with an awesome balcony view of Mammoth Mountain. I figured hanging the dress on this balcony would be perfect for some detai ..read more

Before an engagement photoshoot, it’s not uncommon to be nervous. For many couples, this is their first time getting directed by a professional photographer. This was the exact story for Brad and Heather when I met with them at Lake Sabrina outside Bishop, Ca. I told them “there is no need to worry, you both will do great.”
It really didn’t take long for them to open up. See, the thing about engagement sessions is that you get to go through it with your best friend. Looking at them smile makes you smile. When they laugh it makes you laugh and so on.
I don’t think I could have gotten these t ..read more
