Pope Francis will create 21 new cardinals at a consistory on September 30. This will be the ninth consistory since his election 10 years ago. The new cardinals come from Argentina, Colombia, Hong Kong, Italy, Malaysia, Poland, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, South Sudan, Switzerland, Tanzania, and the United States.
