After a somewhat shaky first half, Zach Edey put the team on his back finishing with 28 points and 14 rebounds. Edey frustrated Gonzaga big man Graham Ike who had outplayed Edey in the first half. Badgers followed up with game-winning jumper by Max Klespit with 5 seconds left. Lance Jones’ desperation 3-pointer at the buzzer fell short and wide at the final buzzer. Purdue 67 Michigan State 62 Purdue survives major injury scare to advance to semifinal Purdue survived it’s largest injury scare of the season midway through the secone half when Braden Smith’s knee buckled while driving to the basket. Smith hopped off the floor on one leg and couldn’t put any weight on his right leg as he went to the lockerroom. Miraculously Smith not only was able to return to action later in the game.
