I also did some work behind the scenes with sound and lighting. However, at some point during that I realised how much I preferred writing and decided to focus on that. What motivated you to pursue a degree in screenwriting and why did you choose Central Film School? I wanted to make sure I was writi ..read more

1) What were you doing before applying to CFS? Before applying to CFS I was living in Australia. I knew I wanted to work in film, but I also felt like I needed more life experience before I embarked on that journey. I had always wanted to live overseas and the opportunity to do so was there, so I booked an Airbnb for 2 weeks and went with my last £200 in my pocket. It was…an experience to say the least haha. But I learned a lot about life, and myself. When I came back I applied to CFS and the rest is history. 2) Where are you currently working / what are you currently working on? I currently ..read more

Mantaro – An interview with Morgan Quashie
Central Film School

What was the inspiration behind the story of Mantaro? Mantaro is a short psychological sci-fi thriller about Alex, a young woman who discovers there’s a sinister side to the brand-new, all-knowing delivery service she signs up for.  The first draft of the script was written way back towards the end of 2018, after a conversation I had with some friends about just how invasive modern technology can be with its tracking and data collection. Everyone’s experienced that phenomenon where you have a conversation about a product – for example, let’s say a water bottle – and then within the next c ..read more

Why did you decide to study filmmaking?  Coming from a theatre background, I worked as an actor until the pandemic, during which I decided to make a fresh start. Editing was the spark that made me realise that now I’m more interested in what happens behind the camera. Why did you decide to study at Central Film School?  After thorough research, I found that CFS is not only the most affordable option, but being an intensive course, I can have a degree in just two years’ time. Still, the biggest appeal was the practical nature of the course.  What modules have been the most insigh ..read more
