Lack of power: If your RV refrigerator isn’t running at all, the first thing to check is the power supply. Ensure that the fridge is properly plugged in and that t ..read more

Icemaker Lines

With the temperatures outside dropping fast this year, you can expect a few new problems to pop up with your RV Refrigerator. One of those may be the refrigerator fill line on the back of your refrigerator. These lines and solenoids are wrapped with a wire that allows a slight warming to keep them from freezing in low temperatures. However, these wires are quite prone to break or cause the circuit board to “burn out” in that section. Without the warming wire, the line is very likely to freeze and break. If you are not using ice much this might go unnoticed until the spring when you suddenly re ..read more

I’ve marked everything down significantly. Check out our Refurbished cooling unit page under the “SHOP” tab. It would be a good time to buy a spare unit since you know it won’t be long until that old one of yours goes out. Haha. Maybe it would make a great gift for a friend or family member who just needs an upgrade… to their refrigerator that is. Have a Wonderful Thanksgiving and a very Merry Christmas! As Mungo Jerry says “I don’t know why, but this feels like summertime” With the temperatures about to hit the ceiling there will very likely be some realizations in your near future about the RV refrigerators out there. Those realizations will be that your fridge that seemed to work pretty good in the fall and winter won’t quite make it as the temperature rises. This is because, like all refrigeration, the temperature inside the fridge is based on the temperature outside. A perfectly running ammonia absorption refrigerator will keep a food safe temperature up to approximately 100 degrees Fahre ..read more

Choked Out!

Many times we get calls from customers with a complaint of the refrigerator workinggreat for awhile. They pack up the fridge once it gets to temperature. Everything is great until the afternoon sun gets it nice and hot outside. Food Spoils, and Ice Cream melts Very Frustrating.  Do they have a bad cooling unit?  Is it a faulty Power Board? Nope… It’s ventilation problems most likely. An ammonia refrigerator requires a lot of air flow to keep the top of the cooling unit cool.  When the temperatures outside rise, fans don’t run as well, or you have a blockage in the chimney you wi ..read more

No I’m not going to whine and complain about anything or “tell anybody off”, I’m talking about letting a refrigerator vent.  Although we are talking about a hot head. Many times we get calls from customers with a complaint of the refrigerator working intermittently.  When they leave to go camping the fridge is working fine and kept doing so for the first day, but then the fridge starts warming up and eventually gets to a point where the food spoils over the following day.  The customer turns it off and uses a cooler for a few days and then decides to try the fridge again.  ..read more

Every refrigerator has a drain line to allow condensation and defrosting deposits to be funneled out of the food storage area to the outside of the coach or camper. We all know that these drain lines need to empty out of the coach or into a drain pan of some kind so that the water doesn’t rot out the platform and wall underneath and behind the refrigerator. However, there is a little known fact about these drain tubes that you should be aware of. There is typically a stopper or cap installed at the end of these drain lines and many times the owners remove them to allow more water to flow out o ..read more

Do you have ice build-up on the top of your refrigerator or cooling fins? You have a condensation problem! The biggest culprit of condensation is an air gap at the door gaskets. Check your gaskets for any obvious tears or cracks, if you are unable to see the problem with the eye. Take a piece of paper and close it in the door gasket. when you try to remove it you should feel resistance but be able to slide the paper easily. Slide the dollar bill all around the door, if at any point the paper moves between the gaskets without decent resistance you have an air gap. For some m ..read more
