Some things never go out of style. And, in my opinion, those 'some things' include statement coats.  I purchased this Smythe Barn Jacket from Holt Renfrew a decade ago. A big fan of the Canadian brand, I loved the green wool material and the removable faux fur collar.  Check out how I styled it back then here. (My, how things have changed. Sort of.)  After recently spotting an updated version on the Toronto-headquartered brand's site, I was inspired to pull this piece back out of my closet and put it back into rotation. And let's just say it hasn't disappointed me in ..read more

The perfect mellow yellow look for fall

Sure, red may be one of the hottest hues for fall, but I'm also loving yellow.  The sunny shade can brighten up the darker days of fall. And I love how seasonal pieces like an oversized sweater can help for more neon shades of yellow to slip into the season beyond summer.  What's your take on yellow?    Outfit:  Sweater: Uniqlo : C (c/o) Pants: Cos (c/o) Bag: Hermes  Shoes: Birkenstock (c/o The Right Shoe)  JavaScript is currently disabled in this browser. What I wore for five days in the South of France

I recently travelled to the South of France for five days, visiting Cannes, Nice and Grasse throughout my stay.  The trip was an absolute dream.  Having visited Montreal prior to my flight to France, and packing only in a carryon suitcase, I chose pieces that could easily be mixed and matched together to create a few different looks. My anchor garments for this trip included my trusty black Levi's jeans, a vintage Chanel jacket I found at Mine & Yours, a cashmere sleeveless top and a simple white T-shirt.  If you haven't already read it, I've created a l ..read more

Meet the only travel tote bag you'll ever need. Seriously.  From the French brand Sézane, this Gabin Bag is the perfect tote to carry all of your essentials — and then some.  I recently took this tote with me on a trip from Vancouver to Montreal to Nice, France and back. I used it as my personal item on my flights and, let me just say, it left me very impressed. Made in Spain using a sturdy-yet-soft suede leather, the roomy tote can easily fit a laptop computer, charging cables, an agenda, an airline-compliant amount of liquids, snacks, a spare handbag, sunglasses ... the list goe ..read more

In case you haven't heard the new: Michael Kors has opened a new boutique in Vancouver. Located on the lower floor of Pacific Centre shopping centre, the boutique offers a full selection of the American fashion designer's MICHAEL Michael Kors pieces, including handbags, ready to wear (for women and for men!), as well as footwear, sunglasses and more. There's also a few Michael Kors Collection pieces to be found there, too.  I stopped by the new boutique on opening day to check out the space. In addition to the full shoe salon — a first in the Canadian market, so I hear — the ..read more

After a brief break away from the blog — my first in 10-plus years! — I'm BACK!  If you follow me on Instagram, you'll know that I've been travelling quite a bit for work this year. In addition to upping my frequent flyer miles status, it has also allowed me to streamline my approach to packing for travel.  At this point, I can go up to two weeks in a carry-on bag. (Ahem, yes, that makes me proud.) ;)  Through the trial-and-error of packing for previous trips, I've narrowed it down to five essential items that I bring on every. single. trip.  Check out my list of top 5 tr ..read more

I'm a big fan of staycations.  Offering a break from the routine without requiring a big travel investment, a visit to a sweet staycation spot is always a restorative experience for me.  I recently spent an overnight at Harrison Hot Springs Resort in Harrison Hot Springs. Located less than two hours from Vancouver, the lakeside location offers a getaway feeling without going too far out of the way.  During our stay, we packed in as many of the property's amenities as we could — including a few visits to the property's five natural, hot spring-fed mineral p ..read more

This may be the ultimate wear-everywhere outfit

This may be my favourite new look.  Not only is it effortless, being easy to pull together in a plethora of denim-shirt-coat combinations, but I also felt super chic wearing it. And we know that's always a win.  To me, what kicks this simple look up a notch — other than the DIVINE Fendi Peekaboo Selleria bag, of course — is the volume play that's happening with these pants.  Wide-leg jeans are officially back, baby! It's time to give your skinny jeans, and even your straight-fit favourites, a much-needed rest.  I love these studded jeans from the brand Reformatio ..read more

Let me start by saying that I'm not an expert thrifter.  But I do enjoy the thrill of the hunt when it comes to searching for preloved pieces. And I've found myself stopping in to my local thrift stores more often than new shops lately, which has helped me to hone a few top tips of my own.  In addition to the you-won't-know-until-you-go enjoyment of finding a different selection every time you visit, there's something so fun about adding pieces to your wardrobe that have lived a life before you. Without further ado, here are my five top thrifting tips.  Establish an order  ..read more
