When you shop for a new dishwasher or water heater, energy efficiency ratings are prominently displayed, helping you make a decision that’s good for your family, your budget and the environment. Similarly, the Home Energy Rating System (HERS) is a national standard by which a home’s energy efficiency is rated. HERS is a vitally important aspect of real estate as we concentrate on more sustainable building practices. It is used by certified HERS builders in new construction and existing homes and can be rated as well by certified inspectors. What is HERS? In short, HERS is a score that is appli ..read more

Enjoying this magical time of year can really be a lot of work.  Whether you’re looking for a holiday-themed cocktail, a place to take the family or a way to give back ..read more

Have you ever heard of the Corridors of Opportunity? Charlotte has six of them. These are vital areas intended to link residential communities with the businesses and resources they need to thrive. Unfortunately, these corridors have been historically underinvested in and have high unemployment and poverty rates. We believe knowing all of these Corridors of Opportunity is important and smart, especially for purchasing real estate and that includes for us, at 5 Points Realty. 5 Points Realty’s primary and original home is a 1931 bungalow located smack dab in the middle of one of the Corridors o ..read more

It’s that time of year when we take stock of what we all have to be thankful for and feel good about sharing. We have written in the past about various ways to be thankful, like volunteer opportunities around the holidays and especially Thanksgiving.  This year we want to point out some fantastic nonprofit 501(c) organizations that are taking care of people in our fair city. Because the concept of home is so essential for everyone and, well, we work in the home business, so we love the idea of helping people discover a sense of place and home. We especially like these groups because they ..read more

Higher Price Point, Greater Value
5 Points Realty

We have noticed a value proposition above a certain price point.  While you may know that a combination of location, quality, and size of structure dictate the list price, what you may not know is that if you are a buyer qualified in the jumbo loan arena over $725k, you can get a heck of a good deal. We have noticed a good offering of homes that for what you are purchasing in terms of location, quality, size and other amenities is outstanding. We just happen to have a few recent listings that are fabulous for many reasons and are a fantastic value.  Take a look. 301 Marsh Rd. List Pr ..read more

Charlotte’s new social district

Charlotte City Council has passed our first social district in the Plaza Midwood neighborhood.   The district will be on Central Ave. and will allow folks to carry open containers of alcohol while walking about and going into businesses.  As you can imagine there has been pushback and trepidation around lots of people outside drinking alcohol, but Charlotte is definitely not the pilot test for this idea. In fact, other surrounding cities have enjoyed great success with implementing social districts such as Albemarle, Hickory, Kannapolis, Mooresville, and Salisbury.  So ther ..read more

Real life nightmare: Truly scary things to find in your house
5 Points Realty

This time of year we love to get a little spooked. We decorate our houses with spider webs, dress our kids up like tiny monsters, and actually pay good money to have people pretending to be zombies scare the living daylights out of us.  It’s fun to get a little spooky on Halloween, but you don’t want to live a real nightmare. For homeowners, problems that go undetected or ignored can be way more scary!  If you hear eerie sounds in the middle of the night, the lights suddenly flicker, or little bugs invade your kitchen, it’s not a horror film. There might be something seriously wrong ..read more

If there is ever a Charlotte event that screams 5 Points Realty approved, it’s Charlotte’s annual Art in the Park festival. We love our local artists! In fact, we’ve showcased several artists in exhibits right in our office! Check us out on our socials about Raia Meister’s current display.   5 Points agent and stager Cassee Cunningham is known for using local artists in her stages. Actually, she just bought a few more landscapes for her staging company and has written about the benefits of incorporating art in your design. IT’S BACK!
