Jackson State did not wait long to begin the search to replace Tomekia Reed as women’s basketball coach. As Tomekia Reed began a new chapter Monday, the previous story she’d written in her hometown and at her alma mater was still very close to her heart. Three HBCU football products had their names called in the Canadian Football League draft on Tuesday, including two with NFL camp invitations. Delaware State running back Michael Chris-Ike, Prairie View A&M wide receiver Jahquan Bloomfield, and Howard offensive tackle Anim Dankwah were among 74 players chosen in the CFL draft. Chris-Ike, a native of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, was selected 14th overall by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Chris-Ike ran for 752 yards and five touchdowns in parts of five seasons with the Hornets. Robert Prunty is apparently out as the football coach at Hampton, the school announced on Tuesday. Prunty, hired by Hampton in 2018, went 26-29 over five seasons. South Carolina State became the latest university to begin a Name, Image, and Likeness program for its athletes. On Tuesday, the school announced it had formed the S.C.
