Former Duke University wide receiver Mehki Wall is taking his talents to Durham’s HBCU — North Carolina Central University. The legal battle between HBCU Florida A&M and former Director of Athletics Kortne Gosha has come to an end. A federal judge dismissed Gosha’s claims that he was retaliated against and forced to resign after reporting misconduct at the university with prejudice, meaning the matter cannot be brought up again. WSSU adds Week Zero game, announces North Carolina A&T tickets

Winston-Salem State (WSSU) football will play a Week Zero game for the first time this fall, and it has tickets for sale for the Sept. 7 game at North Carolina A&T.  WSSU will travel to CIAA foe Bluefield State for a Week Zero matchup on August 31. The game was announced by Etienne Thomas, WSSU Director of Athletics announced the game on Wednesday during an alumni town hall meeting. Former Tennessee State University defensive lineman Terrell Allen is the latest HBCU football star to hit the NCAA Transfer Portal.  The 2023 Buck Buchanan Award winner is reportedly headed to the NCAA Transfer Portal, according to On3Sports.  Terrell Allen led the FCS in sacks (14.5), sack yardage (123), tackles for loss (28), and tackle yardage for loss (149) during the 2023 regular season, helping Tennessee State record a 6-5 record. Former Norfolk State guard Jamarii Thomas is taking his talents to VCU after one season at an HBCU. Thomas, the 2023-2024 MEAC Player of The Year, announced his commitment to VCU on Tuesday. Jamarii Thomas is headed to VCU. The Greensboro, NC native averaged 19.0 points, 7.0 assists and 2.5 steals in his senior year at The Burlington School in Burlington, N.C. When Hampton announced that Robert Prunty was out as its head coach on Tuesday, running backs and special teams coach Trent Boykin was elevated to interim head coach for the 2024 season. It’s not the first time that Boykin has led a football team, he’s a previous HBCU head coach. Boykin spent five years in the SIAC, he was assistant head coach at Kentucky State from 2005-07, before taking over as head coach at Lane College from 2008-09.
