The final day of Harvest Rock’s second iteration was another feast for the senses, offering stellar sounds and plenty of food and drink options to choose from. Julia Jacklin provided a perfect Sunday afternoon vibe with her nuanced songwriting and emotive voice. Her smooth vocals are quite irresistible and work so well with her talented ensemble. While it was a great set to sit in the afternoon sun and soak up, the finale of ‘Pressure to Party’ had us up and moving. The mid-afternoon choices fell between the 70s psyche groove of Babe Rainbow at the Vines Stage and Nick Murphy’s cool creation ..read more

Beer & BBQ Festival 2023 – opening night review

Unusually balmy winter conditions, a great line-up of bands and an enthusiastic crowd made for an excellent way to kick off the 2023 Beer & BBQ Festival at the Adelaide Showground. Given the location, the night-time line-up on the main stage that paired The Living End with Magic Dirt certainly created some nostaglic Big Day Out vibes. Both acts, who were BDO mainstays in the event’s late nineties / early two-thousands hey-day, made mention of this significance during their sets – Magic Dirt’s Adalita noting that the main difference was the former festival’s uncompromisingly hot weather co ..read more

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY TO ALL DADS, SINGLE MUMS AND NON-BINARY PARENTS

I hate to think we’re still living in a world where a group of men wait outside a hospital room smoking cigars while a woman in labour goes through the most physically intense moment of her life. Nevertheless, Father’s day is synonymous with masculinity and, subsequently, we see gift guides packed with overtly masculine products. This year we thought we’d put together a gift guide that explores alternate sides to masculinity and not just utility vehicles, sports cars and golf clubs. Now, you’re kidding yourself if you think dad doesn’t have a favourite, so check out these gift ideas to help yo ..read more

Every year the day comes around to celebrate one of the most important people in your life, your dad. Father’s Day is for all the dads, uncles, grandpas, fathers to be, fathers who desperately want to be fathers and father role models.  It’s a day for appreciation and gratitude for that special figure in your life.  Fortunately, not every father is the same, however, when it comes to Father’s Day Gifts, I’m sure we wish ..read more

ADELAIDE FRINGE REVIEW, NAT’S WHAT I RECKON: UNCOOKED, ROYALTY THEATRE, 2022

After blowing up on YouTube during the initial lockdown, Nat’s What I Reckon’s original comedy cooking channel with a metal twist continues to resonate with a global audience and has inspired many to think about what they’re cooking themselves and have a laugh at the same time. Filling up the Royalty Theatre for his second live tour Nat’s What I Reckon: Uncooked keeps the comedy fresh and the food examples deplorable. Support act Rudy-Lee Taurua warmed the crowd up with riffs on car theft and his lack of surprise at the amount of people that still come up to him after shows to express their co ..read more

In Australia, we love our Aussie wine, but most of us are also avid appreciators of wine from across the ditch. And because we’re also partial to a celebration, we’re pleased to raise a glass to one of New Zealand’s most recognisable wine brands, Kim Crawford who are celebrating their 25th birthday. Founded by Kim and Erica Crawford, the Kim Crawford brand has grown dramatically during the past 25 years, boasting wine from two of NZ’s most famous regions, Marlborough and Hawke’s Bay. Kim Crawford is now the largest New Zealand wine brand by volume in both the US and Canada with annual sales vo ..read more
