‘A ring’ to Dallas in Dallas: Goedert set to return against Cowboys
JAKIB Sports

PHILADELPHIA – The last time time Dallas Goedert played was against the Dallas Cowboys. The next time Dallas plays will be in Dallas against the Cowboys. Ok, Arlington, Texas but you get the point. And Dallas could be the Eagles’ key to beating Dallas. The Eagles have struggled mightily to find a third passing option behind star receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith over the past three games since Goedert fractured his forearm when Cowboys safety Marquese Bell yanked the TE1 down by his arm while making a tackle during one of Goedert’s trademarked angry runs during a 28-23 Eagles win on Nov ..read more

What the heck has happened to the Eagles’ ground game?
JAKIB Sports

Five games into the season, the Eagles had the league’s most prolific ground game. They were averaging a league-high 164.0 rushing yards per game and 4.6 yards per carry. Since then, well, the Eagles no longer have the league’s most prolific ground game. They have fallen to eighth in rushing and 18th in rush average. In their last seven games, they have averaged just 98.8 rushing yards per game and 3.7 yards per carry. They’ve rushed for more than 115 yards in only one of the last seven games (185 v. Buffalo in Week 12). Take out the Bills game and they’ve averaged just 3.2 yards per carry in ..read more

Paul Domowitch: Will the defense’s third-down ineptness keep Eagles from getting to the Super Bowl?
JAKIB Sports

History has shown that no negative statistic is insurmountable. At just 5-foot-9, Sam Mills was supposed to be too short to play professional football, yet persevered and became one of the best linebackers of his generation and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame two years ago. The 2019 Chiefs had the fourth worst opponent rush average in the league (4.9), yet managed to win 12 of 16 regular-season games and record three straight double-digit KOs on the way to Andy Reid’s first Super Bowl title. Peyton Manning had the lowest touchdown percentage of his career in 2015 with the Bronc ..read more

Jack Driscoll answers the call vs. Bills
JAKIB Sports

PHILADELPHIA – Jack Driscoll got the call around noon on Sunday. On the other end of the line was Jeff Stoutland, the Eagles’ highly-regarded offensive line coach, who had a simple command. “Be ready to go,” the lovably gruff mentor barked. As a backup with experience, Driscoll is always a snap away so being ready at a moment’s notice is kind of in the job description but the urgency was greater this time because All-Pro right tackle Lane Johnson woke up with some pain in his groin. The goal was to quickly get Johnson some treatment before the game and a precautionary MRI. The latter revealed ..read more

Inside A.J. Brown’s new world

PHILADELPHIA – When things are clicking with the Eagles’ offense, it’s usually pick your poison for opposing defensive coordinators. A fractured forearm, along with a 1,000-yard start over nine games for A.J. Brown has made that decision easier for most and Steve Spagnuolo came up with a plan that limited the Philadelphia offense to 238 total yards in Kansas City. Ultimately, though, DeVonta Smith got the Chiefs to the tune of six receptions for 99 yards, most notably a 41-yard go route on a check from Jalen Hurts that put the Eagles in position to win a 21-17 game and move to 9-1 on the seaso ..read more

Checks and balances helped Eagles overcome Chiefs

KANSAS CITY – Moments after a hard-fought 21-17 win over the Kansas City Chiefs, Nick Sirianni let loose in the narrow halls of what is now called GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium. The Eagles coach took aim at one reporter who predicted a Chiefs win because of the advantages of having a Hall of Fame coach and quarterback. It was hardly an outlandish “hot take” to take that route but Sirianni obviously used it to fuel his team to get a win that was very important to the coach. Sirianni started his NFL coaching career in Kansas City in 2009 after cultivating a relationship with former Chiefs coac ..read more

PHILADELPHIA – Eagles star rookie defensive tackle Jalen Carter called alleged shoplifting claims from a Center City Target store earlier this week were “probably just a misunderstanding.” Jalen Carter called incident at a Center City Target a “misunderstanding.” #Eagles pic.twitter.com/QQGDssDBsp — John McMullen (@JFMcMullen) November 17, 2023 A police source told JAKIB Sports that Carter was with a woman who failed to scan items at a self-checkout area. Carter, perhaps unknowingly, grabbed the items that were bagged and tried to leave the store when stopped by a Target employee. It was acr ..read more

Paul Domowitch: What’s the problem with the Eagles’ run game? Don’t blame it on Jalen
JAKIB Sports
by Paul Domowitch
3w ago
The Eagles’ run game hasn’t been very productive lately. In their first five games this season, they averaged 164 rushing yards per game and 4.6 yards per carry. In their last four games, they’ve averaged just 86.7 per game and 3.1 per carry. They’ve dropped to eighth in rushing (129.7 yards per game) and 21st in rush average (4.0). That’s nearly 20 yards per game and .6 of a yard per carry less than last year. A number of people on Twitter/X have suggested to me that the reason for the drop in run production is glaringly obvious: Jalen Hurts’ knee injury. But here’s the thing. In those first ..read more

Eagles get back to work: Sign PS center and kick tires on Anthony Barr, Noah Togiai

PHILADELPHIA – The Eagles lost a pair of starters before the bye week when tight end Dallas Goedert (fractured forearm) and Mike linebacker Nakobe Dean (Lisfranc sprain) went down in a 28-23 win over Dallas. Dean is expected to be put on injured reserve this week and Goedert is a candidate for that as well if the medical staff believes the TE1 will have to miss at least four games. On other fronts help should be on the way with two significant contributors expected back after missing multiple games. Right guard Cam Jurgens should be back in the starting lineup Monday night against the reigning ..read more

Injury hands Nicholas Morrow the spot he earned
JAKIB Sports
by John McMullen

PHILADELPHIA – Typically injuries aren’t helpful in the NFL but there could be a silver lining to Nakobe Dean’s latest foot problem for the Eagles — more playing time for Nicholas Morrow. The Eagles were trying to serve two masters with Dean, the second-year Mike linebacker, and things were progressing in a positive fashion, something evidenced by the team’s impressive 8-1 start. A second foot injury to Dean, diagnosed as a Lisfranc sprain according to NFL Media, will result in another trip to injured reserve and could sideline the former Georgia star for the season depending on how things pro ..read more
