It’s our favorite time of the year! Time for the Brown Sheep Spring Mystery Knit Along!
Every year since 2021, we’ve hosted a mystery knit along pairing a Brown Sheep yarn with a fabulous knitwear designer. Each year, we wind up with a colorful, uniquely beautiful shawl. Last year, Tonia Lyons gave us the True Blue Shawl in 3 colors of Nature Spun Sport. In 2022, we knit Aud Bergo’s Lofty Ambitions Shawl in Lanaloft and Lanaloft Handpainted and Mone Dräger’s Swift as an Arrow Shawl in Shepherd’s Shades. Storing handmade knits isn’t difficult, but there are a few steps to take before hibernating sweaters for the winter. Keep reading for our top tips for storing handmade knits at the end of the winter season.

The hand knit Inis Mor Scarf and Hat set capture the spirit of the eponymous Irish island. Knit with Harborside Aran, twisting cables and woven plaits mirror the Aran island’s rugged cliffs and verdant winding trails.
The High Road in Inis Mor
We designed Harborside Aran with the Aran Islands in mind. The region inspired a yarn that could recreate the beloved fisherman’s sweaters known to knitters worldwide. A rich color palette, smooth, soft feel, and crisp, rounded finish lend the yarn to high relief stitch patterns. You can learn more about Harborside Aran in our ..read more

As a yarn company with more than 15 feltable wool yarns, we love felted projects! And felted holiday projects especially. When the weather turns, it’s a great opportunity to create woolly, dense knits with hot water and a little agitation. This year’s post joins our previous entries in the felted genre: All-Time Favorite Projects to Felt and 9 Felted Holiday Projects. So, if this list doesn’t spark inspiration, be sure to check out those blogs as well! Also, if you’ve never felted before, familiarize yourself with our Felting Tutorial.

These are some of our favorite, quick knit and crochet home decor items to infuse the home with the holiday spirit. These projects are perfect for scraps of Brown Sheep Lamb’s Pride, Harborside Aran, Prairie Spun DK, Nature Spun, Lanaloft, and Burly Spun.
