Something a bit different today as we look at some Danish whisky. Sall Whisky x Whisky Watcher Single Cask #29 Region: Denmark ABV: 61.1% Price: £85 (745 DKK) for 500ml The first independently bottled release from Sall Whisky is a 3-year-old expression distilled in August 2020. It was matured in an ex-bourbon cask from Garrison Brothers until November 2023, when it was bottled exclusively for the Whisky Watcher. A total of 159 500ml bottles were released. We're back with the May outturn review. The preview tasting this month featured 21 new bottles. Today we're looking at two intriguing releases by indie bottler Thompson Bros. Thompson Bros Nc Noch Region: Highlands ABV: 48.5% Price: £70.00 First up is a 5yo blend that is a mix of 80% Nc'Nean and 20% Dornoch. Nose The nose opens with a burst of tropical fruits, apricot brandy, tinned pineapple slices, lemon butter, alongside pink lady apples and light peach aromas too. We've got an interesting experiment from the gentlemen at James Eadie, a Daftmill and grain whisky blend. James Eadie 15yo Fife Blend Region: Lowlands ABV: 56.3% Price: £135.00 This bottling released at this years Fife Whisky Festival, and is a blend of 15 year old bourbon matured Daftmill and a 25 year old marsala-finished Cameronbridge Nose Initially, the nose shows toffee apples, warm cinnamon spice, creamy vanilla custard, with a bit of a sweet varnish aroma giving away the grain component of this blend. We're looking at two single cask, peated Kilkerrans, bottled by Scotland's oldest independent bottler, Cadenheads. Cadenheads Kilkerran Heavily Peated 8yo Region: Campbeltown ABV: 59.6% Price: £70.00 First up is a 8yo Kilkerran that was distilled in 2015 and matured in an oloroso Butt until April 2024. We've got a couple of younger single casks from Glen Ord, bottled by Danish independent bottler, WhiskyPeter. These sister casks were bottled two years apart, showcasing the difference that a few years can make during maturation. We're kicking the week off with a few older Highland releases from Berry Brothers & Rudd. Berry Brothers & Rudd Glencadam 2011 Cask #800216 Region: Highlands ABV: 59.7% Price: £82.90 First up we have a 2011 vintage Glencadam that was bottled in 2023 after a finishing period in a Muscat cask. 255 bottles were released. We're looking at a couple of peated GlenAllachie's today from the distilleries' Meikle Tòir series. Meikle Tòir The Sherry One Region: Speyside ABV: 48.0% Price: £41.00 The Sherry One is a peated whisky produced at the GlenAllachie Distillery, utilising mainland peat sourced from St. Fergus. The spirit boasts a peating level of 35ppm, that underwent a fermentation period of 160 hours. Today we’re looking at two releases from another of the “New Wave” of distilleries, Ballindalloch. Ballindalloch 2016 Cask #235 Region: Speyside ABV: 61.1% Price: £103.00 The first release featured is from a 1st fill bourbon barrel, distilled on 28th April 2016 and bottled on 31st January 2024.
