It was a great Gathering. The music was terrific and the people were even better. I think we all came to realize that this event is an important part of our lives and that none of us want it to end. After a fair amount of navel gazing I think that the time has come to change the name of our event/group/camp. The week that we spend together has become much more than a ‘Camp’ for the Campers. The Bloodliners, the families of our participants and the supporters of what we do have made us into what I think of as a “Gathering”. So, we are now the Americana Folk Gathering. It’s been several years since I’ve updated this page. I really don’t have a good excuse for not doing it. We had a great Camp in 2019. Skipped 2020, of course, and just finished the 2021 Camp. There were some problems with the hotel this year due to a storm that arrived ten days before we arrived. It was sorted out and had little effect on our group. The camp turned out to be a success despite the Covid fears. Our precautions were strong enough to keep everyone safe and the after action report showed only a few positive tests- none of them serious. We will be doing this again in 2022. My frien ..read more

I’m not sure who had the most fun this year. The staff, the band, the campers and the audience all seemed to enjoy four nights of great music and friendship. The camp is sold out for 2019, and we currently have wait list. We have added two spots to bring us to 34 campers for 2019. The camp will run from August 6-10 with evening shows on the 7th,8th,9th and 10th. We have hopes that the John Stewart Band will perform on Sunday night the 11th. Today we are on the fourth day of the First Americana Folk Music Camp and I’m happy to announce the dates for the SECOND Camp. We have finalized the dates and they are Tuesday August 6th, 2019 through Saturday August 10, 2019. The Camp will return to the Scottsdale Plaza Resort. We will again be limiting Campers to a total of 32 participants and this year’s campers will get priority on returning for the next Camp. We are about six weeks away from the first night of the new Americana Folk Music Camp and everything is progressing very smoothly. We have a great group of Campers and Staff and we’re all looking forward to hearing music that we all love. There will be 96 songs done by the Campers and the songs range from Peter, Paul and Mary to The Beatles and The Eagles. Plus there will be songs from our staff and some surprises.
