A few months into the pandemic we got a call from one of our past client’s colleagues. She is a doctor, with two young kids, and her and her husband were done with their small downtown Toronto home and the crazy day to day of city living with no help from their families (who all lived outside the city). On (somewhat of a whim) they bought a heritage home in Guelph, closer to both of their parents, and called us to fully revamp the interiors. We absolutely loved working on this project – our clients were a dream and the before and after photos speak for themselves ..read more

We are so excited to share our Bedford Park project. This project was in the early planning phases since March 2020. Our first meeting with our clients was actually scheduled the week the world shut down and we had to cancel. We kept in touch and once things started opening up again our clients gave us the go ahead to hit the ground running.
Demo began just days before the city locked down again for a 3rd time but thankfully it was all smooth sailing despite several Covid related obstacles. We are so excited to share the final photos with you.
Here are the before photos ..read more

We have recently been designing quite a few nurseries for our clients, which makes this the perfect opportunity to share some of our favourite Ikea accessories for your little ones. Ikea can be a daunting place to shop and can be hard to envision a chic, yet functional room for your kids when all of the baby stores cost a fortune. Ikea has some great options for nurseries, especially in terms of accessories and we find the key is to not limit your search to just the kids section. There are some amazing finds throughout the store that work for kid’s rooms too.
These finds will help show you tha ..read more

This post has been sponsored by Whirlpool Canada however all opinions are my own.
Today we’re shining a spotlight on one of the most-used rooms in my (Jordy’s) home: the laundry room! If you’ve been following us for a while, you’ll likely know that I recently designed and renovated my entire house (you can check out #ProjectRushton on Instagram to see more photos – we still have lots to share!). What you might not know is that in the thick of our reno we found out that I was pregnant with twins who arrived in November. When we welcomed the twins our family literally doubled in size – meaning w ..read more

With spring upon us and summer (hopefully!) just around the corner, we’re finally able to start spending some more time outside here in Toronto. When the weather gets warmer, we always find ourselves wanting to invest more time into gardening and making our outdoor spaces more beautiful. But let’s be honest – between the freezing winters and humid summers, we end up spending more time indoors year-round than we’d like to admit. One of our favourite ways to bring an element of the outdoors into a home is by decorating with indoor plants inside a beautiful planter.
Plants bring vibrancy, life ..read more

Between sourcing for clients and shopping for our own homes, we’re constantly on the lookout for special finds! Here’s what we’re loving this month:
Alana’s Find
Brass Picture Frame: Jordy and I are fans of pretty much everything Joanna Gaines does, so it’s no surprise that we love Magnolia’s Hearth & Hand collection sold at Target. I love the unique rounded edges on this frame. Plus, it’s the perfect excuse to start printing photos!
Jordy’s Find
Muji Pump Bottle: I fill these bottles with my shampoo, conditioner, soap, and any other shower essentials to get rid of clutter. Having a ..read more

It goes without saying that everything mothers do for their kids – from the sleepless nights to the birthday parties to the diaper changes – is done out of love. That being said, it definitely doesn’t hurt to get spoiled once in a while (especially when you’re running on zero sleep and your kid is having their fifth tantrum of the day). So, this one’s for all the mama’s out there!
With Mother’s Day just around the corner, it’s the perfect excuse to show some extra appreciation for the moms in your life. While homemade breakfast in bed will always be a winner in our books, we thought we’d shar ..read more

When we shared before and after photos of the Project Melrose Master Bath on Instagram, we got more than a few comments from followers who couldn’t believe that it was the same room in both shots. We take that as the ultimate compliment, since the “before” master bath looked and felt outdated and disorganized. It screamed 1990’s – complete with a corner tub, block glass windows, and shiny gold hardware.
The “after” we created feels current and showcases some of our favourite master bath design elements – from the spacious vanity, to the sleek finishes, to the seriously enviable soaker tub ..read more

After what has felt like a year-long winter, the non-stop rain in the forecast is a welcomed change and a clear indication that it’s finally spring. Spring’s arrival has a way of making us want to hit the reset button and refresh our homes – whether it’s buying new plants, swapping out winter linens, or Marie Kondo-ing our closets (guess they call it “spring cleaning” for a reason).
The winter can add wear and tear to your entire house, but no room has it tougher than your mudroom or entryway. Between the snow, slush, and salt that gets dragged through this space daily, it’ll likely be looking ..read more

Ikea tends to be a polarizing brand – maybe it’s because their pieces are instantly recognizable (every screw and wooden dowel) or perhaps because you can buy a full meal along with your furniture (a plus in our books!). Some people love it, some people hate it – but no matter your opinion on Ikea, you almost certainly have something (or many things) from the furniture giant in your home.
As designers, we love finding unique furniture and dreaming-up custom pieces. That doesn’t mean we’re above a good Ikea hack, though. Ikea has a lot more to offer than hot dogs and square bookshelves, and we ..read more
